I have been working at ARRIS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Solid reputation in the industry, we are the dominant vendor in our market.
Excellent customer relationships, we are a trusted partner.
Financially stable, good long term projections for hard-working employees.
Excellent people coming from a bunch of acquisitions of smaller companies, large talent pool with excellent working attitude.

    Cons

Top management is a close knit group that rarely challenges each other.
Very conservative - won't risk developing a new technology that might not be successful.
Hard to displace an older manager with very long tenure.

    Advice to Management

Re-focus on innovation of the next killer app/product. Bring in a young visionary as a CTO/Strategic developer.

    I worked at ARRIS full-time

    Pros

San Diego location has comfortable feel.
Many other tech companies near this location. Good networking opportunities.
Very mature products and management (pro and con)

    Cons

ARRIS has procured many companies to grow its business. Much restructuring over the years has caused a degree of chaos.
New products and management focused on the east coast with San Diego waning.

    Advice to Management

Provide more HR, team building and little perks to employees to gain better engagement and loyalty.

I worked at ARRIS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The coworkers were great and I made a lot of friends there. It was a friendly office environment.

    Cons

Communication between different offices needs to be improved. Also, people need to keep track of the things they are working on. If you go to somebody and ask for an update, they get upset when you tell them they were waiting for you to do a certain task or something.

    Advice to Management

Be kind to long term employees who put a lot of years in. Don't put them on a shelf and just start diminishing their duties. Keep them busy. Increase pay to your workers. I was getting the lower end of the range for my position. Increased pay means happier employees.

I worked at ARRIS as an intern

    Pros

Every one is very friendly. It is easy to reach out to people for help/information.

    Cons

I am used to working at companies where teams are not this formal. There were no outings with the team - although the interns got to go out together.

I worked at ARRIS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Straightforward and traditional communications. Not a lot of drama. Growth has been primarily through acquisitions. Technology is generally very competitive in their industry, but starting to show its age.

    Cons

Business success rises or falls on a just a few very large customers. The focus on the current quarter blinds upper management to longer term investments needed for their future. Limited career paths.

    Advice to Management

Don't only consider growth through acquisitions. Some investment in internal R&D with a longer term horizon is necessary.
