    I worked at ASM International NV for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Benefits were competitive with industry norms, although constantly trying to play catch-up with competing vendors.

    Cons

    Management often seemed skewed away from performers to favor "yes" men. Long hours, with vacation days scheduled on a first-come/first-serve basis. Reviews/raises given on a curved assessment.

    Pros

    Company provided good hands on training on tool sets along with a great benefit package and comparable salary in the semiconductor field.

    Cons

    Cost reduction due to loss sales of equipment created unstable job security.

    Pros

    Excellent pay and can work a lot of OT and get a lot of International travel. Co-workers are awesome management is great in certain groups.

    Cons

    Lots of time away from home if you are on Install Team. Management sometimes disconnected depending on the group you are in.

    Take more time to care about employee's needs and suggestions.

    I have been working at ASM International NV full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Great benefits, HR never loses sight that employees are people, not just resources. Great people to work with, company is supportive of internal transfers with a wide range of positional responsibilities.

    Cons

    Typical large corporation confusion. Lack of clear company vision at worker level. Too much energy spent putting out fires versus proactively preventing them. Wheels of change can be very slow with regard to updating procedures, processes and methods. Company systems are comprehensive, but utterly un-intuitive with next to useless users manuals.

    Advice to Management

    Communication. Dissemination of company vision to all levels of employees. Too many people have no idea what the mission statement of the company is, and how their respective position directly contributes to company success, and ultimately their own. Without this clarity I see way too many people who view their job as a paycheck, not as "Part of the Team" trying to "Win the Game".
