    Pros

Great for learning opportunities. Helpful and good team mates.Good exposure with people around the world.

    Cons

Management in Europe is good but Singapore and Asian management sucks. Almost zero consideration for employees benefits.

    Advice to Management

Don’t let Asian management control, they are focusing on ontime delivery only. Quality is a forgotten word for them.

    Pros

Company has great technology and the lead in ALD, they're growing , but it's also a company in transition - they are adding capabilities / infrastructure and capacity to meet future needs, and provide for world class capability. It's a place where you can have the environment, and encouragement to do something significant in your career. Lead if you're at that stage in your career, learn, grow and build... something new if you're new to the industry People are generally pretty nice / supportive

    Cons

It's an international company : so there is some travel or at least world wide communication for many - it's best if you know how to communicate effectively and across cultures The company isn't perfect and there are some important capabilities that are just being built - flip side is you can build those capabilities - and the environment is pretty supportive

Not much to say about Pros, nothing

    Cons

ASM has turned into a hostile work environment and has laid off good people as a scare tactic for those that remain. Until changes are made, ASM is a sinking ship.

I worked at ASM International NV full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Pay is decent. Healthcare benefits are above standard. Employees and dependents are provided a discount each year providing you have an annual exam. Quarterly fitness reimbursement up to $300 per year. There are some good employees that care about doing what is best for ASM.

    Cons

Professional development is non-existent. Incumbent employees overlooked for promotions to management. To attract employees from their competitors, all promos and management positions are given to new employees even if they've never managed people directly before. Very lean organization means you are working very long hours Lack of diversity especially in Executive, Sr. and middle management positions The... attrition rate is above normal, some new hires don't even make it a full year. HR may see the problem but doesn't analyze the data and determine how to improve. Employees are not valued. Not a forward-thinking organization. Long range planning is non-existent. If a customer is making a request it becomes the strategy for the organization. CEO is disengaged. Hiring your competitor's management team is not a long term strategy. In the past 7 years, he has never had a town hall or quarterly with employees. ERP systems are archaic.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to listen to your employees. Develop a corporate strategy and communicate to all employees. Using the same generic corporate goals each year is not a robust strategy. Take the time to understand what will work and what doesn't work. Just because your best-known method worked at a 10,000 plus size company doesn't mean you can apply the same blanket approach to a mid-size company.
