I worked at ASML full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very good benefits and compensation. Lots of time off. Lots of travel. Career transition services provided on layoff.

    Cons

3/4 by 12 schedule, spanning at least one weekend day. Little or no advancement opportunity for B.S. Customer Support engineers. Layoffs happen and severance package was laughable.

    Advice to Management

Respectable severance packages for employees laid off for business cases. Help employees advance with better mentorship.

    Pros

Technology under development is interesting and sometimes challenging in a good way. Employees are recognized for good work.

People are generally nice and easy to work with.

Building is light and bright. Food and beverages are well stocked for employees, company events are generally fun and well-planned.

    Cons

Cubes are small. Not all jobs have clear career paths

I have been working at ASML full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Work with highly skilled and intelligent people
    - World class engineering
    - Good benefits, above average time off
    - Very receptive to new ideas
    - Solid outlook
    - For a semiconductor company, very stable

    Cons

    - Planning is ALWAYS overoptimistic
    - Work can be very stressful at times
    - Communication can always be better

    Advice to Management

Everyday management: Get to know your people better, and try to help them with some of the chaos of life at ASML. You have very talented people that will kill themselves to deliver. You sometimes need to save them from themselves!

Upper management: Very good vision overall. But please if you make broad policy changes and initiatives, you better support them or else you lose trust.

I have been working at ASML full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

ASML offers tremendous room for growth. With different departments and positions and an our ever-expanding hierarchy of roles, opportunity for growth and challenge is available. Essentially an intern could work and potentially advance in time into a role of greater responsibility or a management position.

    Cons

ASML not well know in the US. Need to build a recognizable brand. Show the benefits of the products and the opportunities available.

I have been working at ASML full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the most breaking edge technology is needed to meet the sub-nanometer error budgets of ASML machines. I honestly get excited working here. The work is challenging and heavily based on commercializing new technology into complex projects that perform better than any competing product.

    Cons

Wilton has a stubborn and dated culture and attitude. This is a con to having so many experienced engineers in one building. Management is working on bringing a younger and more dynamic feel to the Wilton office. The Dutch headquarters has a much younger and more collaborative culture.

    Advice to Management

You will not attract new hires to Wilton office unless you make the office more exciting and inviting. I almost did not accept my job offer because of this.

I have been working at ASML full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits and competitive pay. Friendly culture and decent work-life balance for salaried stationary employees. Clear Roles and

    Cons

Contracts say up to 80% travel and they will milk that out of you as an American. They are a dutch run company and run it as such. Constant battles with auditors over expense reports. Work life balance for traveling employees is far below what management advertises. Americans get shafted as Dutch employees get 30 paid holidays a year.

    Advice to Management

Adjust you travel policy in regards to work life balance. There is a reason hardware engineers have a 3 year burn out rate at this company. Practice what you preach.
