I worked at ASML full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

i had the chance to work with some of the smartest people on the planet, and was made better for it. There is nothing like working at a major semiconductor manufacturer R&D facility, where the engineers and scientists were working with our machines to produce cutting edge semiconductor designs and processes. Hours were long, but very busy. People were great!. Growth is unlimited. Benefits were outstanding.

    Cons

Some really long hours (but well compensated!).

    Advice to Management

None, really. I was treated very well, even when being laid off.

I worked at ASML full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The technology is outstanding at ASML. People want to contribute at a high level. ASML as good training programs for learning the tools.

    Cons

If you aren't Dutch, it can take some time to get used to the culture and get to know people. If you are going to spend any time in the Netherlands, I recommend learning Dutch. Even though the Dutch know English quite well, it helps the working relationship to know the language (same as in any other country).

    Pros

Collectively, the IQ of this company is probably over 120. Very smart people working towards a common goal. In my 9 years with this company, they went from being #7 in the world to being #1 in the world at designing, marketing, manufacturing, servicing, installing, and supporting the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing machines on the planet.

    Cons

You either need an advanced degree, or very specific experience to get in. Advancement opportunities are far an few between for people like me (transplanted from a corporate take-over, no specific engineering degree...)

    Advice to Management

Ok. You're a Dutch company. Suits, ties, very polite, etc... My advice? Loosen up a little.

    Pros

The co-workers are smart and the relationships are great. The managers respect the employees. flexible work time. Provide free four dinners.

    Cons

The pay is not great. The pressure from customer is very high. Many coworkers are not from CS background and the projects are poorly managed.

    Advice to Management

The managers were great. But too many senior leaders left the company for other chances. The company also need to balance the CS and the application side.

    Pros

    Stable, Fair enough work-life balance

    Cons

Many times PMs don't have a good clue about the sensible direction. They just head towards some empty promises from the customers. You spend a lot of time and efforts for nothing.

    Advice to Management

Should have a better strategic planning, and appropriate the resources accordingly
