    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

401 k, pension, and discount off of products.

    Cons

AT&T has no loyalty to the employees. Unfortunately, AT&T is terminating the "older" employees and hiring younger ones for less money and no pension. Sad

    Advice to Management

Management needs to communicate with their employees.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I began my career with Pacific Bell in San Francisco, then was merged into SBC, and ultimately became AT&T. Mergers usually bring about many changes and stress but I can honestly say that AT&T has proved that I made the absolute best career choice. AT&T continues to provide many career opportunities with the best benefits.

    Cons

Although I feel with working for AT&T the pros outnumber the cons 100 to 1, there are a few worth mentioning. The pay structure could be enhanced and based more on performance than where you currently rank on your salary scale.

    Advice to Management

Create a more transparent appraisal and employee ranking system

I have been working at AT&T full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Large, successful company that isn't going to go away anytime soon. Very good benefits. Leadership recognizes the importance of employee engagement. They quarterly poll the entire employee base on what can be done to make it a better place to work for, and try to make efforts to actually implement employee suggestions. Depending on organization/team you work for, you could have a very fulfilling job with great leadership and management.

    Cons

Depending on organization/team you work for, you could have a very unfulfilling job with poor leadership and management. Company tries to stay lean, so pay is conservative but not bad. No real travel or expense perks unless you're an officer or your job directly involves it. Imbalance of work load between organizations/teams. Some groups could twiddle thumbs while others are swamped at the same time. Really depends where you land/what you're looking for.

    Advice to Management

Keep being receptive to employee concerns. Employee engagement is becoming an increasing factor in company performance and could make the difference between meeting or not meeting analyst expectations. Try to keep the workforce fluid. Cross training and employee mobility foster learning and dynamic conversations. This is what keeps a 130+ year-old company from becoming stale.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Typical top Fortune 500 Company- decent benefits, stability of company seems good depending on the business unit, ability to move around with the company. They are doing well- acquiring companies to grow.

    Cons

"Too Big"- business growth by acquisitions leads to a lot of redundancy, too many legacy systems, narrow job functions. Sometimes information from top management does not always make it down the line, employee has to be very self directed.

    Advice to Management

Clean up areas with redundancy. Provide better info to employees regarding the new business ventures the company enters into.

    Cons

Not enough opportunity to move up within the company. You must work there years before a promotion is offered.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Employee discounts and employee discounts.

    Cons

Taking time off was always an issue, too much work for one person, and we were never given the tools we needed to do our job efficiently.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to look at what's going on below you. People are miserable.
