I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Invests in their people, always innovating, leader in tech

    Cons

Sometimes layoffs are frequent which can mess with morale, cycles through same management all over the place

    Advice to Management

Great job. Promote younger leaders and have familiar leadership faces mentor them on what they know. Time to see some fresh faces

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Pay, 401k, Opportunity to learn and grow, culture, diversity

    Cons

Constant layoffs or forced retirements resulting in teams working lots of overtime and or not completing projects or just basis IT development on time or in budget or not at all in some cases

    Advice to Management

Good managers overall but do not put pressure on teams to produce once you get rid of the people with most of the experience and institutional knowledge. All that does is cause employees to look for other opportunities, even at a pay cut.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Competitive benefits and salary, along with great potential for training and experience. Advancement opportunities are plentiful as well up to a certain level of management.

    Cons

Bureaucracy and constant change with little to no regard for the impact on employees and lack of employee input on changes. It is often stated that employee input is valued and welcomed, however it really isn't.

    Advice to Management

Be more respectful of employees and what they have to contribute to the Company. Company deeds should more often match up with what the Company says.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Many good coworkers, training, and positive work making an impact.

    Cons

Little opportunity for advancement, very little understanding from executive management of value of work in overall picture.

    Advice to Management

Please figure out the value of an employee prior to a layoff.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Good way to get experience out of college
    - Looks good on a resume

    Cons

    - Below market pay
    - Terrible office culture
    - No meritocracy whatsoever
    - Chaotic management

College hires are the main way they are hiring new talent, but the majority leave within a few years, because the pay doesn't scale and because the culture is so lousy. If you're one of the more competitive college hires, they send you to the AT&T Experience Weekend where they inundate you with false expectations. Their older offices are terrible compared to Dallas, so getting hired on into one of them feels like a bait and switch.

Within my business organization, there was always a fire, always a crisis, which sucked up the vast majority of management's time and energy. If management actually focused on correcting the fundamental problems -- lack of pay, poor accountability, Waterfall methodology, etc. -- then they wouldn't have to fight fires constantly.

    Advice to Management

Nothing. Every time I brought up an issue it was summarily ignored or didn't gain much traction up the ladder.
