I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great job for someone just getting into sales, or someone that has experience. Because Att is such a large company they are able to provide great learning resources to improve your job skills. Great pay, benefits, and bonuses.

    Cons

Fast paced environment and some of the products can be difficult to sell. The job is definitely determined by the manager you have and managers seem to move around a lot so things change quickly.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits: 401k with match, HSA, vacation time, etc. They used to offer a pension, so if you've been there long enough that it is really great to have. If you have a great manager it's a phenomenal place to work.

    Cons

They are reducing the workforce by 50% (from 2015 or so) by 2020. Every year you wonder if your job is on the line and every year you see 5-10% of your colleagues disappear. The work keeps piling on those who are left, and the expectation from the highest levels of management is that this is working. The lower 2-3 levels of people are left carrying massive workloads and are barely able to sustain.

Most people in professional roles that have laptops are working well into the evening once they get home just to keep up. People take laptops and phones on vacation just to avoid a massive workload upon return. A ton of support roles are being outsourced globally, and it's frustrating both as an employee and as a customer.

    Advice to Management

Stop reducing your workforce. Stop reducing your service folks. Your best and most loyal employees are leaving due to either being laid off, or due to not being able to sustain healthy mental health levels and work life balances due to unsustainable workloads. Give your people raises of at least cost of living, not just performance based. People work harder when they are compensated fairly.

I worked at AT&T (Less than a year)

    Pros

No matter what position you work in you will gain valuable work experience. The company had a fantastic training program.

    Cons

It’s not for some. It’s very metrics driven. Opportunity for advancement within HR is difficult unless you live in one of the major corporate locations (Atlanta & Dallas).

    Advice to Management

Management is great. Some leaders managed better than others; overall they are great.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Engineers get a free phone with unlimited data, and sometimes can get free tickets to concerts and games at the venues where we provide indoor mobile network

    Cons

We were not allowed to have merit-based raises, so in my 3 years, I was making less than entry-level employees because the rate at which entry-level salaries increased was much higher than the regular annual increase regular employees were allowed. I was also the youngest by 20 years and the only woman and was constantly treated so regardless of my merit

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Stable, although limited, earnings environment. Great benefits.

    Cons

Very difficult to move in the company in recent years as one needs to "releasable" by their current management, who won't let good "workers" leave. At the same the company can move you into something totally unrelated to your career path. Within a 10 year career plan here, you need to be willing at some point to work a position for 2+ years that you don't really want to do with hopes of moving back into your path at a later date. The trade of is a stable paycheck and good benefits.
Pay can be low compared to other opportunities at other companies, but benefits are good.

    Advice to Management

None. They know how to run a company of this scale. The company is too big for them to care about an individual, so don't expect them to.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent pay for someone who has no college degree, great discounts

    Cons

Micro management, Job is deceive and lie to customers to earn a living. Every customer that walks in has to hear about direct tv and all products even if your just buying a cord or paying a bill. It is demoralizing position after time. Management got their position from stuffing customers with products that they don't need.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to clean house at every location. Ive seen a whole team leave all at once. Stop
