I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent Work/Life balance depending on team. Allows WFH, decent vacation package. Unlimited sick time.

    Cons

Decent when hourly, I've seen many salaried employees work 50+ hours weeks at a time. Pay is very low for the Seattle area, recent college hires have been getting more starting pay than employees who have been with the company for 4+ years. You're consistently being micromanaged, all the time you hear stuff like you're great talent etc. They're really trying hard to keep employees at the moment, turnover is pretty high.
If you just want to collect a pay check and coast by, this is the place to be.

    Advice to Management

Pay market salary for the area.

    Pros

    Flexibility, nice co-workers, newer offices

    Cons

constant reorgs, every few months, outdated processes, slow to improve. last 2 years constant lay offs both for contractors and full time employees. Morale is very low.

Stabilize the processes and retain knowledge employees

I worked at AT&T as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Not many pros - perhaps the satisfaction that you survived in spite of the volatile work environment

    Cons

Highly dysfunctional, the good people get pushed out while the crazies and abusers get rewarded. Walk sideways with your back against the wall, else you find an axe in it one day.

    Advice to Management

Grow up and strive to attract and keep good talent and honest people.

I worked at AT&T as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Got to learn lot about telecom domain, technology and nice people to work with

    Cons

Too many team involved in each release and no one takes responsibility till you assign it to them.

Passing an issue on to the other team was a so hard always.

    Advice to Management

Recognizing smart and hard workers will help build a better team and lead to better of everything.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They have decent salary and benefits with a bonus system based on company productivity. A lot of autonomy depending on group you are in.

    Cons

Very little stability due to constant change and reorg depending on what merger is coming. Leadership lack communication and vision - I think most of this comes from trying to jump through the latest hoops and VP reorg.

    Advice to Management

Create some stability for people and encourage commitment by either slowing down the reorgs or placing people during reports into another solid role.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Really good people to work with. Good benefits such as direct tv and phone discounts.

    Cons

Frequent all the time regorgs. Seriously one was just barely finished before the next one was in the works. SOO frustrating.

Layoffs killed the love. So many layoffs with little notice. Make everyone feel unloved, undervalued and on edge. If you live in Washington apply elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

No idea who really is in charge there.
