    Neutral Outlook

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Paychecks & bonus checks arrive on time. The work is steady as long as your project is funded.

    Cons

Management is angry and unhappy, and that rolls to lower level employees. They also expect salaried employees to sacrifice their work-life balance in favor of AT&T. They expect you to work all week plus evenings and weekends, even to the point of calling at 3 AM to get you out of bed to do something they deem urgent. If your project funding runs out you can expect a letter to arrive in the mail, announcing that you have 60 days to find a new job or leave.

    Advice to Management

Grow Up! Stop bringing your unhappy personal life to the office. Learn to value your employees. Stop acting like every little disappointment is somehow the underling's fault. Drop the hubris.

I worked at AT&T as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Depending on which contract company you go through, the pay is excellent.

    Cons

No benefits. Very intense, stressful work environment. Too much work with too few employees, and everything needs to be done now.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people to handle the workload. Employees, not contractors that get fired at the first sign of downturn.
