I have been working at AT&T full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Sit in a chair and make good money. You get the opportunity to help business owners in dire need at times. You also get to help bring businesses up to speed by recommending new products and technologies to increase their business. Atmosphere is good internally - good co-workers and personalities

    Cons

Stressful days can be normal from types of calls and situations that you deal with. You need to be able to deescalate calls with tact to be successful in this role. Commission structure is tightened year over year in my short time here. Different commission structures for different reps because of the union. Doesnt feel fair that older staff in same role get higher guaranteed pay with very little stress of hitting sales goals.

    Advice to Management

Try to create a clear path for advancement if someone shows initiative. It is currently hard to picture advancement because tenured employees in management roles dont seem to have any stress of losing their jobs and they will all likely retire in their same positions unless they move to a different department because the leadership is stagnant.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company had excellent benefits when I started working there 13 years ago. The hours were good and the pay very good.

    Cons

Terrible management and bad company culture. No room for growth.

    Advice to Management

Give your managers better training and don't treat your employees like children. Communicate with them!

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay sounds good like they care

    Cons

Don't care if you have a medical conditions, long hours, slave driver. You don't live your life it's all AT&T.

    Advice to Management

Need to be honest and not trick them. Also look at positive not the negative if I was management I wouldn't do something that wasn't right because I wouldn't like to live with myself.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay was decent but scheduling was horrible.

    Cons

Management will tell you the customer is important but their actions will tell you it's the shareholders. Employees aren't empowered. Everything has to go through management.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent advancement opportunities and a great long term employer.

    Cons

That as management every 6 months you have to worry about being surplus/downsized.

    Pros

Benefits are pretty good and the pay can be good.

    Cons

ATT is always downsizing so the stress of having that always over your head is very difficult. Your future is always TBD and the stress level as a result is high. People are working more hours and doing much more so they can perhaps keep their job and benefits. So many are on medications for stress just to keep their day to day wits about them. Painfully high stress.

    Advice to Management

I think the first and second level managers are in a difficult spot. It is the higher levels that are perhaps unaware of the stress that is being put on the level 1 and 2 groups (project managers, service managers) causing mental health issues on a wide spread basis. How many companies can say their people are begging to be downsized because the stress to intense because their support people keep getting laid off or moved out of the country.
