    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good pay, nice facilities, excellent perks as far as free DIRECTV and discounted mobile service.

    Cons

Lots of silos and fiefdoms prevent real collaboration. So many different systems to request access to a myriad of different system. Poor meeting structures encourage disengagement. Direction from leadership lacking as the merger and synergy between AT&T and DIRECTV progresses.

    Advice to Management

employees appreciate transparency. AT&T culture needs to be more willing to take the best from companies they acquire, not simply force the acquired company to regress whether technologically or culturally. For example, the charitable match policy at AT&T is vastly inferior to DIRECTV. Why not adopt DIRECTV standard and reap the rewards, both real and karmic.
