I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

Decent benefits in terms of health, dental, vision, HSA (will sometimes match up to $500) and 401k (6% match) Average time off starting around 18 days now. Employee discounts including DTV with HBO, cell service, ISP.

      Cons

Wage stagnation. Promised promotions and progressions are withheld due to the most minor of technicalities that they caused. Cost of living increases are not adequate. Especially considering they love sending out emails to tell us how well they are doing. Bad policy decisions regarding employee location. New round of layoffs every 4-6 months typically, meaning either work cheap, be an exec, or get out.

      Advice to Management

Compensate your employees appropriately. Quit with the re-orgs and layoffs every few months. Stop rubbing the success we build you in our faces if you’re not going to share our generated wealth.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 20 years

      Pros

Salary and 401k are competitive. Employee concessions are good.

      Cons

Over the years, there have been entirely too many layoffs and reorganizations. They occur almost quarterly now. It's hard to plan life if you don't know if you'll have a job in 90 days. In management, our leadership shuffles us around to different roles way too often without any regard to where we want our career paths to take us. Also, in my part of the organization, they no longer let any of us work from home because...

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 20 years

      Pros

The AT&T brand is still strong, with an international presence. The professional networking is still strong. The direction to pivot to new areas for business is commendable. There are many programs recent graduates or those that have learned new skills.

      Cons

The company is bleeding and continuously slashing budgets on a reactive basis. This is evident when management is surprised by decisions made from executive leadership. The company is not doing enough to invest in those that are in the trenches and can drive the true transformation that needs to take place.

      Advice to Management

Enhance your leadership and communication style.

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 20 years

        Pros

Challenging work and many opportunities for advancement if you are in the Dallas, TX Headquarters. Company working through a digital transformation that will encompass all entertainment offers. Offers many training opportunities to strengthen your skills as well as continue to support the company. Good HR support for everyone as yearly compliance training.

        Cons

Must be in at the HQ to move up in the company.

        Advice to Management

Need to move more quickly to a Agile environment as they are not living their best business as the objectives do not align with middle management. When looking to lay off people need to do a deeper dive on the talent to ensure you are not cutting your most talented people but keep folks that continue with old AT&T strategies.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than a year

        Pros

AT&T values and cares for their employees. You’re not just another number to them, and you’re not just “another sales person” who’s replaceable. AT&T puts forth an effort to retain and keep employees happy.

        Cons

None, except for compensation plans are changing often and not always for the best; however the compensation plans are still far better than any other telecom company out there.

        Advice to Management

Keep doing what you’re doing, and keep your focus on the frontline employees who are making the company the money.
