I worked at AT&T full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fantastic benefits, super flexible, the more you work, the more you make, unlimited commission potential. You don’t feel a sense of competition with coworkers due to the way teams are organized.

    Cons

Leadership is always changing - management changes about 2-4 times due to constant reorganization. You may end up with great leaders and then with a horrible one. High manager turnover. Very high quotas compared to previous years.

    Advice to Management

Better management training. Some managers leads by example with positivity and represent true company culture, but some other managers (esp those brought in from other markets) may cause more harm than good due to different leadership styles.

      No opinion of CEO

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Great compensation and some of the people are awesome.

      Cons

Awful ethics from retail employees. Selling tablets to people under false pretenses. Not worried about their customers. Only worried about their sales goals. If you missed your sales goals for 2 months, you got a write up. If you missed it again, you were fired.

      Advice to Management

Focus on being a service company that takes care of their customers. Also, put some more towers up!

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than a year

      Pros

It's pretty easy once you get used to it.

      Cons

It's completely sales driven even though your job is a customer service job.

      Advice to Management

Please treat your employees like PEOPLE and not like expendable employees. I feel like they would grow more if they knew they were able to.

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

Good Benefits and a liberal telecommuting policy. Employees are friendly.

      Cons

Structured management that makes high level decisions based on financial goals and not needs of the business. Commonly has layoffs to meet financial numbers while placing the employees in unmanageable situations with unrealistic goals.

      Advice to Management

Listen to your customers when they are telling you that they are not happy with the service they get and that that stems from constant cuts and offshoring of jobs. Also, pick a business model and quit trying to be everything to everybody.

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than a year

        Pros

Highly Diverse, excellent opportunities for individual contributors, good benefits.

        Cons

Big company politics, internal corporate culture clashes, too many subcultures based on acquired companies, "us versus them" and "in or out" internal politics and factions based on DirecTV pedigree versus AT&T HQ versus smaller acquired companies. Politics impact technical decisions negatively. Company business focus is so broad that they miss innovative and strategic opportunities in international markets and with...

        Advice to Management

1: Get a realistic Build versus Buy or Partner process to avoid business and technical decisions adversely swayed by politics. 2: Either support international business or kill it. Don't starve it or shrink it by a thousand cuts.
