    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay was good at this company and at the time I worked for them, they offered a lot of overtime and not just time and a half sometimes double-time.

    Cons

Sometimes some of the seasoned order writers would talk down to our group because we were new and just learning all the systems.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work but please advise your seasoned workers to take it easy on the new employees please.

    Cons

Slow to take action and lower pay than competing firms

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Benefits, Retirement, Education Reimbursement, PTO

    Cons

No job security, constant restructuring and "surplus" layoffs. Retiree benefit cuts.

    Advice to Management

Be mindful and respectful of the veteran (read "older") employees who built the network and keep it running. The employees and our corporate memory of the wireline business are no longer valued. We are considered a burden and irrelevant. We are being laid off because we are over 50 and too expensive.

    I worked at AT&T part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Flexible hours
    - Offers 401K at the star
    - Good pay + Commission

    Cons

    - The company is always raising the bar of sales goal while encouraging the customers to do everything online (e.g., upgrades & get services).

    Advice to Management

    - Create surveys in regards to customer needs and wants at the retail level because retail consultants interact with customers on the daily basis and best know what the customers want!

    I have been working at AT&T full-time

    Pros

    Pay/bonus, flexibility, benefits, Learning Assets

    Cons

Silo'd. Empire Building. Everything is about CYA. President (of business unit) through AVP level are the 'frozen middle' and incapable of translating a great passion and vision for the business by our CEO & Chairman into anything actionable. Everything is Lost in Translation. Takes 6 month increments to move any kind of needle and more like 3-5 years to implement anything (by that time it's already changed). Little internal job movement based on your desire, more based on the constant organization changes. It is not the job of the supervervisor to grow their people but instead to simply manage vs. lead. There's a rough guide of having a minimum of 10 direct reports for each supervisor due to that fact. They have quarterly surplusses (aka 'You're fired') with know feeling of security for anyone.
I'm not even sure what the culture and values are (yes, there is a powerpoint that state the vague concepts).

    Pros

    Good employee healthcare benefits overall

    Cons

no time at work to learn about the benefits

    Advice to Management

reserve an annual benefit session for all questions the employees have

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company strives for high standard in leadership. Expectations at each level extremely high. If you make it as a Director here, it means that your scope and span of work is huge. A director here can have as much challenge and responsibility as VPs or SVPs in other companies. Same for higher levels. Att is really a lean company for senior management and has few leadership opportunities.

    Cons

The culture is so old fashioned, they are trying their best, but it is hard to move a company with hundreds of years in existence. There are a lot of Christians who happen to be leaders in the company and tell others their religion views and conservative notions. Beware. if you happen to be progressive or liberal. Promotions are hard to come by and they pay so little!!!. I know because I worked in HR and know how they compare with other companies. Very inflexible, change takes a long time. And for all the development stuff that they have, I wasn't impressed with their talent level. because talented people will leave a cheap and boring company.

    Advice to Management

If you really want change and innovation, you should be open to other ways of doing things, please don't make the same mistakes you did with DIRECTVs acquisition with Time Warner. Your inflexible and cost leadership way of doing things will not translate well in the entertainment business.

I have been working at AT&T (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, commision on video service is that highest between competitors, union.

    Cons

Managers are not unionized so you might find them helpless if you needed help. Unethical pushes to sell a dying tv service (by some managers). Point system for absence ( 8 points, you gain all of them you get fired). disconnected from the world selling culture.
