I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

AT&T is a great place to work because of the different job opportunities!

    Cons

Telecommuting should be 100% if the job title does not require face-to-face meetings.

    Advice to Management

    Allow 100% telecommuting.

I worked at AT&T for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great flexibility, great pay and meaningful work. Was treated like an actual employee of the company up to a limit.

    Cons

Permanent conversion is nearly impossible to secure. Company's practice is limited to internal hiring for most operational positions. Contract employees are considered external candidates.

    Advice to Management

Expand hiring options to include viable contract employee candidates.

I worked at AT&T for more than a year

    Pros

Other teams had a good environment, excellent pay and benefits, lots of opportunities to move up

    Cons

My specific team had a woman who was a tyrant to her team and everyone elses. She would throw a roadblock in any initiative we had. I feel like it was because she was so behind in her own work she was looking for others to blame.

    Advice to Management

After reporting this to higher levels, they kept her. Then a few months later they had to transfer her out of the workgroup to another because she wasn't getting anything done. Advice: no work will ever get done if there is a terrible environment. Please listen to you employees, and then query other people in the workgroup to make sure the reports are true. Then take action.

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good pay, employee discount, benefits, work from home option

    Cons

Constant downsizing and reorganization. Outsource many positions or hire contractors to replace full-time employees who leave the company. No job is secure. Top heavy management. Very heavy work load. Top executives do not value employees....Their main interest is securing their hefty multi-million dollar annual salary and bonus.

    I have been working at AT&T full-time

    Pros

The work can be very challenging and interesting. There is a professional culture. There are lots of resources with many years of experience who are willing to help. The position seems stable since there are very few layoffs for this position.

    Cons

Internal job changes can be difficult. There is a very small chance of promotion. The senior management is extremely political and hierarchal. Annual raises are historically very small.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    * Involvement in interesting business deals.

    Cons

    * Essentially no chance for promotion unless located in Dallas or Atlanta; * A bottom line first, shareholder-friendly, empolyee-unfriendly company; * Remotely located supervisors who have often never meet those employees on their teams who are located in different cities than they are, and who frequently have little understanding about their employees' individual skills, interests, and work volume & quality; * Below-market...
