I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

    The coworkers ,the pay, benefits.

    Cons

Management was clicky. At my center they tend to disappear for most of the day. Some played favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time around the employees trying to make a bigger difference.

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great pay and amazing coworkers and management is helpful

    Cons

SALES SALES SALES! Nobody in this call center can complete a sentence without using the word sales. This pushes reps to do very unethical things to keep management off their backs. We were literally told by our manager “if they’re not buying then get them off the phone” and “don’t worry about their issue just find out what you can sell them!” Like what!!? That’s not how you retain customers.

    Advice to Management

Focus on service not sales. Split the departments instead of having customers call for general service questions or issues and being sent down the rabbit hole of it turning into a sales call they didn’t ask for!!

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - decent pay - very supportive and genuinely helpful co-workers

    Cons

    - It's a sales job, first and foremost. The titles "Customer Care Rep" or "Customer Service" are a farce. It's ACTUALLY "Mobility SALES and Service Rep". Reps are always on the wrong foot and despite people calling in for their concerns, reps are to make sales offers on EVERY CALL. Yes, even on the ones when customers have been calling about the same problem five times and have low confidence in the company/brand. YES,...

    Advice to Management

GET IT TOGETHER. The turnover is ABYSMAL and would make most fast food joints blush. There's no reason why HALF of my training class is already gone three months (or less) into employment. That particular center can hold lots of reps, but currently, maybe 30%-40% is actually filled. Many employees suspect that they're just hiring people to fill up their quota and that they're in danger of closing that particular center....
