I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Excellent pay, benefits, and culture.
Great feeling working with customers to have service installed and/or maintained.
Always a raving fan customer experience.
    Independent work environment.

    Cons

As with any place there are negative people you will work with, but you work by yourself 90% of the time so thats ok.
The metrics are not always the best creator of a customer first work environment.
Can be difficult to locate the right person or the right path to take in unusual circumstances.

    Advice to Management

Metrics kill the customer. I am one of few technicians that will choose my customer over my own metric. Most will cut a corner to run the numbers even if it means they short change the customer experience.
Surveys are not detailed enough to produce actionable results.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great salary. Good benefits.

    Cons

Medical insurance deductibles are very high - $2750 for individual. Executives no longer care about their employees. Layoffs are happening every month. They have declared that 50% of the workforce will be eliminated by 2020.

    Advice to Management

Reduce your outrageous pays. You are not worth millions.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

THE BEST PAY AND BENEFITS! Union job. Get to work in the field. If you qualify for home garaging program, you can take your truck home.

    Cons

Managers are pressured so hard to meet their metrics for the month that some of the bad managers dont know how to handle it other than yelling and writing everybody up creating a stressful work atmosphere. Climbing poles is stressfull and time consuming. Working on the West side of Dayton is a Nightmare. Added Directv responsibilities on the technicians without a raise even though the work wasnt bargained into our contract.

    Advice to Management

Screen Managers. Praise the good managers and let go of the bad ones. One bad manager rubs off on 10-20 of his technicians who each interact with 50-100 customers a month. It starts at the top.

    Pros

Work by yourself . company provided Vehicle. All tools and supply's provided by company. Decent pay. Learn a lot about networking and technology.

    Cons

Very hard work, sometimes stressful. Work in all weather conditions, snow, heat, rain. Managers sometimes try to micro manage. Sometimes things are out of your control and there's nothing you can do about it.

    Advice to Management

Let employees go out and do their job without being too intrusive. Try to understand that even when we go out and do our job perfectly things happen that are out of our control and shouldn't be faulted for it.
