I have been working at AT&T full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great Pay, great benefits, get to use your head to solve issues, coworkers look out for one another

    Cons

your just a number, management is forced to micromanage, extremely stressful due to a wide range of numbers you must meet. They say safety first but will be put in many situations that if you go about things safely your numbers will suffer and you will get in trouble but if you get caught being unsafe you will get in even bigger trouble. Customer service is a must but to fully solve all issues and thoroughly educate the customer takes time and you are timed on each job so must halfass the customer most jobs unless its a simple one.

    Advice to Management

Numbers are very important as a business that much i understand but the harassment we recieve for them is unreal. Most techs ive run into dislike their jobs and its only because of the pay they stay. A wire techs job is extremely difficult and it seems through the years it has only gotten worst.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You get 50% discount off most accessories and home /cell service. Get to see new technology first hand. Get to go to rally's for cool stuff.

    Cons

Customer service and retail location aren't on the same page. There is A LOT of favoritism within areas. There will be no chance of moving up unless you kiss up and turn a blind eye to things that are flat out wrong. I notice more and more people of color where I live ( south) are paid less and are put through more rigorous tests just to get promoted. AT&T states they promote diversity and a friend of mine who is well qualified and of color, constantly gets overlooked because he doesn't look like them. It's so obvious when they treat him bad. I'm disgusted at the things they practice and the raises are a joke. People who worked for the company longer get minimal raises.

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting your friends, promote people that have a brain. Give everyone a FAIR chance. Everyone needs to be on the same page and help out the customer.

    Pros

My salary and benefits were great. We had a lot of team building exercises.

    Cons

Management was not flexible with hours even when it was possible. It was hard to move up in the company.

    Advice to Management

Implement more resources for employees who wish to grow in company, allow room for flexibility with schedule and try to keep the amount of employees up with the workload.

I worked at AT&T (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits, pay and longevity. You can make long term friendships and a large network of acquaintances

    Cons

Seniority based stability instead of basing on merit and knowledge; Union is now weak and not as beneficial or powerful as they once were

    Advice to Management

    Get adequate certifications and education

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Enjoy helping new people evey day. I work with some great folks. Learn something new every day. The pay is not to bad. Union

    Cons

Home work balance is not that great at times. Health benefits are getting worse with every new contract. While pay goes up slightly.

    Advice to Management

Stop pushing techs so hard so you get your bonus. Saying you will fire a tech before Christmas is pretty crappy.
