I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for with so many opportunities. They give you so many chances to grow your knowledge base and move within the company! Get to work from home which means lots of extra time for working and not travel time.

    Cons

Work life balance is the biggest challenge. It's something that takes time to figure out how to make things work for you and your situation.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great discount, multiple opportunities

    Cons

Low wage for the actual duties performed, professional and personal development opportunities are lacking, Union does not effectively support work force

    Advice to Management

Focus on developing employees and opening up more opportunities for them to explore their skills as they relate to our changing industry and be more dynamic toward change rather than static.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Tool and truck are provided. Good benefits. Adequate paid time off.

    Cons

Very little control over what happens in the field. Weak union representation. Questionable metrics and work methods.
Very hard to move into another position without having to relocate.

    Advice to Management

I would suggest a deeper look into the scope of work and metrics required by premises technicians on a daily basis verses the scope of work for other positions in the field.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Well respected in the telecommunications industry. Tuition aid and opportunities for advancement are pluses

    Cons

Super large company is not always personal. I worked there for decades - loved the "family" environment of the 70s 80s and 90s. It became much less appreciate of employees when the current CEO took over

    Advice to Management

Treat employees more like human beings and less like a number. Trust front line managers to make more day-to-day decisions.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay is almost unrivaled in retail. Good perks with discounts on wireless, home internet and DIRECTV. Good opportunity for you to hone your coaching skills. Environment can be fun and energetic, it can also be stressful and depressing depending on who your leadership is.

    Cons

Your best is never good enough. They will always find something wrong. Managements rights are not protected like the staff. Watch your back.

    Advice to Management

Learn to truly value your managers and your sales reps. Don't just give it lip service.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great opportunities for those just starting careers with their professional degrees that are cloud based, or if you are looking at sales in their retail stores they do not require a degree. at&t provides paid training. Being a Union based employer the pay for non-management is negotiated by contract which means they can't cut your base pay. Commission pay of course is based on company rates not negotiated so that part is strictly based on you and YOUR motivation. In their retail stores if your motivated you can advance quickly into management. great 401k packages.

    Cons

the healthcare insurance is expensive if you have a Large family to cover. the dental/eye insurance just covers minimum now days, out of pocket is high on that. those of us in the 50plus age club are no longer a value or asset even based on years of experience.

    Advice to Management

As an employee who will have 19 years with at&t come 2/2017 am very disappointed that i have given 19 years of perfect attendance and took advantage of all the companies "in house" continuing education and assisting managers with daily operations only to be continually passed over for job openings.
