I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay good. And decent benefits. Transitioning from just a phone company to an entertainment company. Just recently purchased Time Warner

    Cons

Hard to move around to other departments. Certain areas are downsizing so fast that as employees you are not sure if moving to a particular department is good for your future with the company

    Advice to Management

Listen to the front line employees. I mean listen and make adjustments based off what they say

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Outside plant technicians enjoy great pay and health benefits. Self motivated employees enjoy a successful career in customer service.

    Cons

Minimal guidance and high stress atmosphere. It is easy to fixate on simple obstacles while ignoring the bigger picture. Demanding work atmosphere includes all manner of weather and temperatures.

    Advice to Management

Remember that your department is the "clean up crew". it takes time to correct the amount of mistakes that can fall upon a single technician.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people (co-worker) to work with, Great pay and company benefits.

    Cons

First 10 years was great, but the remaining years there was horrible!
High turn over in some positions, high pressure because of an unfair rating system in a few but not all positions. Play their games, quit or get fired.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Wireless Discounts, Uverse and Directv Discounts, Digital Life Discounts (All Half Off)

    Cons

Long hours, ALOT of conference calls, insurance is expensive if you have a family, little room for growth unless you are in the "circle", no work-life balance.

    Advice to Management

The way the management and coaching guides are set, they are set to hold reps accountable and fire them, not to help get them better. Upper management doesn't care about their people, only their jobs at the end of the day. You have to become a manager in 98% of cases in order to move up in the company, unless you know someone that can get you into another department. It is very hard trying to get out of retail.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Slightly above average pay, company vehicle with gas card, discounted AT&T services, somewhat attainable monthly/quarterly bonuses, employee discounts on numerous products and services, tuition assistance

    Cons

Little opportunity for advancement to higher paying tech positions, BIG brother ALWAYS micromanaging you, profits before people, unrealistic goals, no advancement opportunities unless you're willing to move across the country,

    Advice to Management

Reward long time, dedicated, hard working employees with advancement opportunities in their home towns. Raise the top pay for Prem Techs to a middle class livable wage.....you know.....like the one you get.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Not any really, job is boring and management lacks any real vision plus training your boss is chore. Chain of command consisted of an AVP, VP, SVP, and officer that had never worked within the outside plant network organization as a non-management, 1st level, area manager, or a director prior to their current position.

    Cons

Got embarrassing watching Verizon have the better network and T-Mobile kill AT&T on net wireless adds every quarter for last three years after giving them billions on failed merger.

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting individuals into job roles that they are not qualified to fulfill.

    Pros

Great benefits, opportunity for promotion if mobile or in a metro area

    Cons

Too much tracking of results without any appropriate considerations of differences in the customer base, territories, etc. Always comparing apples to oranges.

    Advice to Management

Put the focus back on excellent service to customer instead of pure metrics.
