    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits if you were healthy and did not have to take medication

    Cons

Can't afford medication needed to stay alive.
    No job security.
If you did not live in Redmond, WA., Chicago, IL., Atlanta, GA., or Dallas, TX. always worrying about being surplus.
    Just a number to management.
Gave 17 years to company and was thrown out like trash.
No room for advancement unless you are in the good ole boys network from the wireline side.
Managers don't fight for their employees.
Moving jobs oversees, telling government you are adding jobs in America.

    Advice to Management

Get some people who actually care about employees and not just the bottom line.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay is outstanding and benefits are good. Union protection and Paid training, Uniforms and all tools are provided along with vehicle. Flexible schedules and generous vacation and personal paid time off. Safety is number one at at&t,Upper management very much wishes everyone goes home safely to your family at the end of the day and instills this mindset every chance it gets. Lots of advancement for those willing to go the extra mile to get it. Tuition reimbursement for those willing to better themselves and the company.

    Cons

Micromanagement and bullying of subordinates is a cancer infecting low level supervisors. Area managers and their corporate managers are for the most part awesome but out of touch with the technicians. The job metrics for Efficiency and Dispatch efficiency are ridiculous, you are penalized for factors outside your control. Rules and company policies are not always applied equally to all employee's. Constructive termination through bullying is practiced by many managers. More work procedure and policy changes than one can humanly adhere too. Jobs that once were designated for core employee's are now expected to be done by lower paid employee's making job security weak for core employee's.

    Advice to Management

Not all managers are the same some are awesome while too many need to Chill out and do not take things personal. front line Managers seem to forget they put their pants on the same we the techs do. Upper management needs to Stop over looking and severely discipline managers who use constructive termination and bullying techniques and are micromanaging people under their control, it isn't hard to see which crews have a problem with turnover and disciplinary issues. Change some of the metrics that are out of the technicians control like crushing employee's numbers and bonuses when customers cancel appointments or are not home for appointments after tech dispatches. Go easy on Repeats caused by bad equipment or plant outages.
