I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good Pay and Benefits for all

    Cons

Seems like organizations are always in a state of flux. Reorgs after reorgs are the norm.

At this time, one does not want to be associated with any legacy copper technology. Result of being attached to a legacy technology is getting laid-off

    Advice to Management

Pull your head out and quiet blowing smoke to all the employees. Stand UP, Talk Straight, and Follow Through... Quite painting a picture of butterflies and unicorns and tall the troops the real story

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits, salary, and opportunities for young people to gain valuable experience that you can take it elsewhere for higher compensation. Good promotion opportunities if you can relocate, though relocation $ is rarely offered.

    Cons

Long hours, frequent surplus conditions, and now must live in one of a few cities referred to as collaboration zones unless you are selling or installing services locally. Upper management talks good culture, but in the last 3 years it is not consistently practiced so message is lost as it trickles down.

    Advice to Management

Plan better to avoid 35%+ reductions in numerous organizations simultaneously. Control debt ratio. Surplus management not performing instead of those with stellar performance who don't live in the most desired geographical area when that specific position can be done from anywhere due to the nature of it. Assure the right middle management leaders are in place.

    I have been working at AT&T full-time

    Pros

    Benefits and discounts are decent

    Cons

If you want to be treated like you aren’t worthy, this is the job for you. You aren’t appreciated, you are belittled by upper management. All the hard work you put in goes unnoticed. It doesn’t matter how well you do, it is never good enough. This company changes their focus daily. What is important to them today will change tomorrow so you are constantly trying to play catch up. They act like customers are our number one priority but all they care about is how much money they can squeeze out of someone. Management doesn’t act with any kind of integrity.
There isn’t a work/life balance. They do not care about you as a person. I would never recommend this this company as a place to work.

    Advice to Management

You allow management to treat employees like we are worthless. It is very clear we don’t matter. You should take a close look at who you allow to run your stores in the Kansas City area. You have employees who are not qualified for their position.

    Pros

Great people to work with. Training
Is provided, however experience is your friend. More time on job more you know, if you have the right attitude.

    Cons

Upper Management always trys to make things difficult for technicians. This is a numbers driven environment.

    Advice to Management

1st line managers for most part aren't the the problem. The problem is the bean counters who know nothing about how much time it really takes to the work in the field.

    I worked at AT&T part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good immediate management, good hours

    Cons

Tough escalations, unrealistic commission goals set by upper leadership and cutting commission every chance they can get which makes for fast turnover, AT&T keeps opening new channels that cut into commission and sales like enjoy which is a door to door service except you have to deal with all they’re mistakes after they screw something up so you could have just payed store reps more.

    Advice to Management

Stop cutting our commission, This used to be a 55-60k paying job full time now our reps are struggling to make 40 a year. You can’t ask for solid salesman and not pay them, the concern should be that customers are seeing a drastic change in reps due to removing training and having online training which declines in store knowledge. Reps are noticing large pay decreases which leads to low morale but upper leadership keeps asking for more from an under paid front line. I know it’s small to AT&T but the front line is your business if you don’t have solid reps to keep customers and close deals you’ll be going down the same path sprint and tmobile did when they cut commissions and pay and lost business.
    STOP CUTTING COMMISSION
2% on accessories sales ? Seriously
