I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

    Pay, Insurance, Benefits, Time off

    Cons

They perform major layoffs every 6 months.

    Advice to Management

Executive management is never accountable for bad business decisions. This should change.

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Good overall structure, you know what it takes to be successful and I enjoyed working with the talented people and management teams.

    Cons

Lots of change and it's more volatile than it should be with higher rates of turnover in recent years.

    Advice to Management

Keep the Culture Great! More focus on keeping people during downtimes.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Decent pay, decent benefits, and great discount on services.

    Cons

Over the years AT&T just seems to be losing touch with their employees. They are so desperate to make up in profits for all the companies they acquired, they’re creating too many different sales positions. They expect store employees to sell just as well as employees that can offer more deals to customers. If a sales problem occurs from a different channel, store locations are expected to fix.

    Advice to Management

Direct management are usually great, area managers and other managers above are so out of touch, they expect too much and are constantly demanding.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Discounts on wireless, TV and internet are nice. You can also pretty much apply for any position within the company and land it, even if you have zero experience in that area. In fact, the less experience you have in certain fields, the better off you are as a candidate since AT&T rarely follows anything like industry standards (other than Agile or what they think is Agile). I guess that's a pro?

    Cons

One of the worst corporate cultures I have ever seen. Corruption is off the charts, rampant backstabbing whenever an opportunity presents itself, undermining of efforts through the withholding of information needed to complete tasks, work silos, and the list goes on and on. Every company has politics, but AT&T is on a whole different level. There is also an incredibly unfair "country club" culture at work in ...

    Advice to Management

Start assessing your level 3 and 4 employees (directors and AVPs). Many of them are harming your business by creating ridiculous rivalries and turf battles; that, or they're "leading from behind." Manage them out before it's too late. And as much as I hate to say this, the layoffs need to continue. AT&T desperately needs a youth movement because, as it stands, the company looks like a ship that, while not exactly...

    Positive Outlook
    Approves of CEO

I worked at AT&T for more than 4 years

    Pros

Great flexibility, great pay and meaningful work. Was treated like an actual employee of the company up to a limit.

    Cons

Permanent conversion is nearly impossible to secure. Company's practice is limited to internal hiring for most operational positions. Contract employees are considered external candidates.

    Advice to Management

Expand hiring options to include viable contract employee candidates.
