    Pros

pay, benefits(401k, pension, paid holidays, low cost health insurance)

    Cons

performance metrics can be hard to hit sometimes and don't accurately reflect your performance(for example if customers cancel appointments it hurts your numbers even though there's nothing you can do about it.)

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits are good
    Union positions

    Cons

No advancement opportunities for Asian employees. The company does not adhere to success planning process. Nepotism is the name of the game.
Numerous unethical business practices. Too many to list.
    They treat California employees poorly.

    Advice to Management

    Reinstate ethics, morals and integrity.

    Pros

Competitive salary if you are entry-level.
Time-off granted up front instead of accrued.

    Cons

Sales goals are based nationwide and are unachievable in certain areas.
    Company politics are very prevalent.
A lot of promises go unfulfilled.

    Advice to Management

Take the time and work along side your employees in the field. See what the sales environment is like.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Independence in your normal work day. Company vehicle and tools.

    Cons

Lack of supplies to do jobs to att standards. All supply orders have to go through approval process. Partly due to abuse of ordering. Inventory works well for equipment if the equipment is available. With the addition of DirecTV the training offered was so poor that it set up technicians for failure. I previously worked for Directv for 5 years. You can not learn how to install Directv efficiently in a 3-4 day span.

    Advice to Management

Push for better training in DirecTV installations.

    Pros

    Great Benefits.
    Great people to work with.

    Cons

Horrible organization planning especially within the engineering groups
Lack of vision for employees upward mobility.
Flattened org structure with no lead/manager positions.
Overly aggressive agile structure adoption with lack of planning of what to do with existing managers/leads.

    Advice to Management

Figure out how the developers on the scrum teams can move up in the company to more managerial positions.
Ensure people are matched to their jobs appropriately with their skills.
Actually LISTEN to what your employees are saying.
Remove favoritism that exists within the organizations.

    Pros

They're big and that can open up opportunities for you. Also the name looks good on a resume.

    Cons

Just about everything else. This is the most disorganized company I have ever had anything to do with. What annoys me most, though, is the phony company culture that preaches about caring about the customer and employee while CONSTANTLY laying people off and trying to exploit and trick the customer. Also, many of the business units are run like sweat shops.

This is a very unethical company that needs to be broken up by the government.

    Advice to Management

Actually act on your words. Everyone knows AT&T is run by a bunch of double-speaking phonies.

    Cons

    Pros

Good employee benefits, but have to fight to get educational benefits.

    Cons

Worked in sales with a lot of people who don't speak their mind but expect you to read theirs and use non-verbal cues to communicate.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the nasties in Sales as they don't improve the sales figures

    Pros

The type of work environment is a never ending revolving door of change. My peers are amazing. they have good benefits, you’re constantly learning,

    Cons

It sometimes feels like I’m back in high school. It’s all about who like you. You gotta fake it to make it. They care about their number one priority which is the investors.

    Advice to Management

Change the way u approach the teams. Every rep should be trained in all aspects of the job. Special projects should be rotated monthly or even quarterly to allow everyone a chance to do them.
