I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Not sure there are many left

    Cons

Constant cuts to an already slim and extremely productive workforce that has been continually cut for 20 years. Awful morale. Last year's "tax cut bonus" announced by POTUS appeared to have come from raise pools, replacing annual review increases. Speed and lowest cost are king, quality is an afterthought, a bit of balance would be nice.

    Advice to Management

Stop buying external businesses you can't pay for that can't support themselves.

    Pros

    Good benefits, pension, large company

    Cons

Constantly in fear of being surplussed. They used to let you work from home and cared about work/life balance. Now they just care about badge swipes and VPN usage. If I hear the word "collaborate" one more time...

    Advice to Management

I don't think Randy would listen to me anyway

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of work with modern technologies, T University covers a lot of subjects (if maybe a bit shallowly), benefits are OK, there's an official severance policy

    Cons

Very little career mobility if you're not at a collaboration zone and under 40, it's very unlikely you will ever have any interaction with management more than 2 levels above you, T University is used as an excuse to not pay for real training opportunities, at this point any kind of teleworking is viewed negatively (even just once a week).

    Advice to Management

You have a lot of very talented people who are being left out of opportunities to be productive for you because you refuse to consider anyone over 40 not in a collaboration zone for any modern role, you are killing morale by boxing people who don't want to be in legacy roles in those roles and slowly surplussing everyone. Most of your WF2020 and career evolution propaganda is not backed up by any visible opportunities. We're not going to be the next netflix stop racking up debt to chase the dream of being a tech unicorn.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Pay, 401k, Opportunity to learn and grow, culture, diversity

    Cons

Constant layoffs or forced retirements resulting in teams working lots of overtime and or not completing projects or just basis IT development on time or in budget or not at all in some cases

    Advice to Management

Good managers overall but do not put pressure on teams to produce once you get rid of the people with most of the experience and institutional knowledge. All that does is cause employees to look for other opportunities, even at a pay cut.

I worked at AT&T (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This was a great place to work and people were very professional in every way. made great friendships with different employees that still exist today. Support was great for getting help in projects and reaching out to people across the country.

    Cons

It was tough to leave because of budget cuts and consolidating our process with Consumer based reps. They did not plan this well enough to keep good people, we lost alot of great talent to this because they just looked at salary and not productivity of the people. I heard lots of bad press after this happened that lower paid people were just out for a free ride and the people that worked and got raises were in the long run punished because they made too much money.

    Advice to Management

during these type of budget cuts please take a look at the people not just the job categories based on where they lived where in the south salaries were much lower than they were here in Minneapolis, as we were targeted because we had higher salaries because of the cost of living was much higher, and I know for the majority the work ethic is much greater here in Minneapolis and family values are much more valuable.
