I worked at AT&T (More than a year)

    Pros

Pays well and a decent cafeteria.

    Cons

Even though it pays well, it is probably the closest thing to paid slave labor I've ever experienced.

    Advice to Management

Realize that people are not robots and re-humanize the work process. Find some leaders/management with dynamic personalities who are not dead inside.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Getting to develop an exciting new platform.
Freedom to speak your mind and raise issues.

    Cons

Switch to agile software development has been very painful.
Communication is awful. One group asks you to do one thing and praises you for it, another group freaks out when you do that thing.
    Lots of in-fighting.
    Company is way too large.
Leadership refuses to fire some terrible engineer contractors despite them bringing down entire teams.

    Advice to Management

    Fire the lazy people.
Bring some order to the chaos.
    Improve focus and communication.
Don't overlook good employees on bad teams.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Consistency in job security. Challenging work. Feeling of accomplishment.

    Cons

Sometimes the overall direction does not make sense. However, I am sure there was a reason behind everything.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Deep pockets, seems invested in the future and staying current with technology. Stability/job security (been with the company for over 14 years) Wide range of options/opportunities with locations throughout the US and global. Training and tuition reimbursement is made available. More recently, good employee discounts.

    Cons

Corporate work environment, health insurance could be better when comparing with other companies in the industry. Work/life balance can be demanding at times…

    Advice to Management

From my personal standpoint, wish I had more company information trickle down to me and my team from upper management…
