    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very high pay scale, great benefits, and strong corporate values from the senior team.

    Cons

Very little job security as they have gone through multiple reorgs each year for the past 4 years. Also everything is decision-by-committee which makes it impossible to get things done. And there is no career path for anyone who doesn't live in LA or Dallas.

    Advice to Management

Give your employees more autonomy and help them feel more secure in their roles

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Medical is better than most. Dental is great. 401k match to 6%
    - Plenty of learning. Depending what you do the vacation time is flexible.
28 PTO Days after 15 years. start was 18 I believe
    - yearly bonus , Being a top performer gets you a larger bonus.
    - Cell, internet, and DTV and UVERSE discounts.
18 years I have had 5 TERRIBLE BOSSES, 1 OK boss, 2 Good Bosses, and 1 EXCELLENT BOSS. Brought me to the next level and made me a MUCH better employee. Not sure if this last entry was a pro or con.
VO is allowed in some ORGs others it is not.

    Cons

    - Training, top performer, awards, mean nothing. If it your time to go it is your time.
Posting internal gets you almost no interviews unless you know someone.. I dont care if you have a rocket science degree. it wont help unless the hiring manager doesnt have a predetermined candidate or HR steps in if you are on surplus notification. Surplus happens about every quarter and in large numbers.
re-orgs are consistent. so you dont have an idea who you will end up working for. - be nice to everyone./. LOL / Automation and Outsourcing will take away almost all the lower level positions leaving you with a GROSSLY top heavy company

Good work life balance for some.. others are worked to the bone. BUT work life balance or not you live in constant anxiety for fear of losing your job. And anyone is fair game to get chopped

    Advice to Management

    - If your going to surplus at least look at who you surplus. not just wipe people out that are top performers. There is fat to be cut. but you are cutting a lot of good/great people. SAD. STOP outsourcing. Its decreasing the customer experience on top of taking away great workers.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Learning techniques, sales incentives, flexible hours, lots of pto, great benefits, great vacation pay, and the fact that we still have a union.

    Cons

Commission has been cut down, micromanaging, goals are too high, hard to make sales quota, coaching if goals are not met.

    Advice to Management

Make the place a fun place to work

I have been working at AT&T as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

So much room for an entrepreneurial employee to take advantage. People across the entire company will pick up the phone and talk to you if you ask.

    Cons

A lot of disengaged employees punching the clock. Not great mentorship and the size of the company gets in the way of efficiency and intelligent use of data science tools. Easy place to go nowhere.

    Advice to Management

Embrace failure and encourage risk taking

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I like the people in my office

    Cons

Unfair targets and advise to improve sales from management that has no idea what its really like to work in a call center

    Advice to Management

Show employees you care by providing fair targets and commission compensation. As per many different management techniques, have upper management periodically go online and deal with costumers in the call centers. That will show employees that management understands what its like.
