I have been working at AT&T part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Pay
    50% off phone bill
    $10 Directv

    Cons

There are a lot of cons working with AT&T. They expect you to solicit to small business on and off the clock. They expect you to solicit to the police department and fire department for new lines. If you don’t you will get written up for not submitting business leads. Don’t expect sales support from your management. I went through 2 mangers in less than a 6 months period. Both will not assist you in sales and close and will sit in the office. I thought sales mangers are supposed to help you close sales but I was wrong, mangers sit in their office all day and only come out when it’s close to them leaving. Even though AT&T is a cell phone company they considers themselves a Cable and Internet company. Reps who work part time have quotas just the same a full timers. Even though part timers work half the hours less. You’re expected to pitch everything to a customer new line phone, new line tab/watch, accessories, insurance, Directv/UVerse, and streaming services. Instead of learning needs and tailoring the experience to your customer. If you don’t hit your numbers in Directv/UVerse, internet and business you have to go to a mandatory meeting for 2 hours and role play. They don’t care about new lines just entertainment. I think AT&T was a good company at some point but all the reps in my store are looking for new employment. They closed out the full time position so they only hire part time.

    Advice to Management

Reps who hit sales goals doesn’t automatically mean they’ll make good mangers. Sales mangers are supposed to help reps team sale and close a sale if a customer is on the fence. Customers don’t know that AT&T is a cable and internet company. Have reps learn needs from their customers instead of pitching every product we offer. When having a BOGO don’t always tie TV service with it, it’ll make them go to other providers because that’s not a requirement. Get better mangers.

Great Incentives, the longer you work for the company the better your schedule is

    Cons

sometimes goals are unrealistic, your schedule can be changed because of needs of the business,

    Advice to Management

realize that not every employee is willing to lie to customers to make sure you don't get put in a cap

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Good hourly rate.
    2. Time to time incentives for selling certain products or services.
    3. You can possibly get a good manager, but that’s EXTREMELY rare.

    Cons

    Where to begin...

    1. Horrible commission. High goals, very low payout.
    2. 0 work/life balance.
    3. If you get sick or there’s a family emergency, you get penalized for it.
    4. No job security whatsoever, management is constantly trying to get rid of people. Area managers are by far the worst.
    5. If you enjoy being spoken down to by management then this is the place for you !!
    6. You’re nothing but a number.
    7. Customers are thee absolute worst.
    8. Fire you if you under perform, investigate you if you over perform.
    9. Scheduling is based off of seniority which isn’t fair anymore seeing as how the company doesn’t hire full time anymore and part timers don’t go by seniority.
    10. This company is extremely unethical.
    11. You will become highly stressed, deal with extreme anxiety and practically lose your mind working here. I’m trying to get out because this place isn’t a positive environment.
    12. AT&T is not physically, emotionally or mentally safe !!!

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like humans and not numbers that you can just replace. Stop threatening to fire us. Stop talking down on us. Actually pay us for the billions of dollars we put in your pockets every year. Realize we have lives outside the company, allow us to have one and you’d be surprised how much better we perform at work.
