I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 20 years

      Pros

Decent compensation package, nice benefits, Annual raises usually around 3% to 4%. Yearly bonus usually between 7% and 13% (dependent on company performance metrics) Good severance package (50% of your salary as long as you've been an AT&T employee for 13 years, with gradual lesser increments for less time served)

      Cons

Don't believe the fake news: You can take all the AT&T University classes you like, but there is no migration path for legacy network personnel to fill all the new jobs in next-generation technologies. (Cloud, Software Defined Networks, etc). Instead, the company is hiring fresh-faced affordable college graduates, and laying off thousands of dedicated technical folks in their mid-50's. " AT&T is gambling...

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 6 years

      Pros

Good pay and benefits, ours was a union shop and we had 401k and pension

      Cons

The company gets in its own way. The techs are usually without the equipment they need, anything that is working well usually gets changed. You are trained to take care of your customer, but like so many jobs that won't matter if your numbers suffer. If you have to call in on behalf of a customer, you will usually talk to 7 different depts on the phone because most are outsourced and have no clue what they are doing....

      Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. Don't spend hours training CODE if you aren't going to allow your techs the time to practice it. Don't pretend you care about the customer when you really just want to satisfy your boss with your team's numbers.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 9 years

      Pros

Good pay, 401k, have made life-long friendships

      Cons

Zero family life. On a daily basis, I never know what time my work day will end....can't leave until all jobs are done. I've been forced to work on days off, which makes scheduling and keeping doctor's appointments impossible. I am unreliable to my spouse and children b/c of work hours. Having chest pains, but unable to get to doc appt because I can't get a day off of work.

      Advice to Management

Your long work days/weeks and forced overtime create a difficult home life for your employees. How about 2-man teams, 1st-2nd-3rd shifts to carry the heavy work load.

    • Upper management needs overhaul with fresh idea implementers. Good benefits, great co-workers.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 20 years

      Pros

Direct Managers have been great to work for as they are very personable and appreciate the work that you do. Benefits and perks have been nice. I love what I do and enjoy challenges and enhancing my skillsets.

      Cons

As the years have gone by from my initial start date to the present, the AVP level and up management have become less involved with work, employee success, and overall concern for what workers should be doing to succeed. Personal pay increases have not been in-line with the market, but the top management seems to enjoy bonuses in the millions of dollars. I would hate for the last 5 years define my overall review of...

      Advice to Management

I get it that upper management (AVP +) have numbers to fulfill, but sometimes they should take a step back and realize how to make the workplace a better environment. Take a poll with your workers as to what works and what doesn't when it comes to collaboration. You're not Google, you're not Apple and you don't have a community lifestyle like these companies. The Company was built on roots on access everywhere and...

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

You get to meet lot’s of interesting people from all walks of life

      Cons

Severe micromanagement, inflexible salaried Manager schedule but you’re treated like an hourly employee. Terrible systems that constantly crash mid usage. Operates on retail hours. If you’re looking for a 9-5 keep looking! Look at the reviews Nationwide. If it looks, walks, quacks like a duck? IJS

      Advice to Management

Loosen up the vise grip a little with the micromanagement. If you don’t trust your employees to do their jobs the employees won’t trust you to lead. Stop making one size fit all policies. Address the person or persons who violate the rules. Everyone is not out to do the wrong thing so stop treating everyone like they are.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 6 years

      Pros

Discount on wireless and wires services and benefits

      Cons

The work life balance is non existent. Be prepared to politic your way into a decent position there as gossip, or just sheer ability to do someones job better can blackball you from the "Frat club" at any given moment. The coaching process here does more harm than good to sales reps as you are literally holding them accountable for freedom of choice by the customers.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

Great experience on a resume Good 401K and benefits Competitive edge in the electronics industry

      Cons

Micro management x10 like you’re a child Came from store to inhome and actually took a pay cut Things change last second with out notice Expected to meet unrealistic goals and go to “sales training” events when you are under goal

      Advice to Management

You need to stop micro managing and also take feedback from your employees. You dangle meeting quota in the face of your employees and kick them to the curb or ignore them if thbwre not doing well. Need to completely revamp management at AT&T
