I have been working at AT&T full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company to be employed by and they truly cherish there employees. Great opportunity for advancement and or relocation. Always looking within the company for way to continue to grow the brand

    Cons

I love California. But my commute is minimum 45 min on a good day. Besides the traffic, Bay Area cost of living is extraordinarily high and difficult to truly enjoy life unless your in the 80k plus salary bracket

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Everyday is challenging and you get to meet all kinds of people. You work with technology and the company is constantly keeping up with it. It leads and rolls with change. We coach for success and focus on positive reinforcement.

    Cons

There are old employees that have a bad attitude and are hard to get rid of. Union protects the lazy from getting fired and the great from getting bonuses.

I worked at AT&T as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I worked at the Big Data office in Palo Alto, and it was overall a great workplace and had a nice laid back, company culture. Felt more like a start-up, and definitely was not the gray cubicle workplace I imagined. Also, free Thursday lunches!

    Cons

It's hard to communicate between departments at times, and getting the right access privileges for your computer. Onboarding took much longer than it should have.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the smartest people work here!
    Great work - life balance.
    Lots of growth opportunities
    Diversity.
Passion to make a big impact.

    Cons

Sheer size of the company and complexity arising from the matrix organization.
Re-orgs are quite common. In less than 2 years, I reported into three different bosses - Breaks the morale of the team.

    Advice to Management

Empower 2nd/3rd level managers to take more risks; Everybody is too afraid of the corporate bureaucracy.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

AT&T is actively working to implement open technologies and become more of a tech company and less of a telecomm. There are amazing opportunities to have your work have a massive effect

    Cons

It's still AT&T, and it is still a HUGE battleship that moves slow. If you're looking to get in and make big changes right away, look elsewhere. The most frustrating thing is when you can successfully make lasting change in your group and that change is negated by your own management up the line or parallel groups

    Advice to Management

Flatter org - especially at the top.

  7. "WHY is upper management so distrustful of all their employees ?"

    Pros

When you are not busy you can just surf the web or play games. But the harder you work the more customers you can help . The more customers that you help the larger your commission check will be.

    Cons

ALL the red tape that you have to do because the upper management really does not trust their sales people. You have to check the customers wireline status , grab 4 accessories , then print out the check. and finally write a small essay before the manager gives you a phone. every sale takes about 1 hour at least.

    Advice to Management

PLEASE STOP all the BS just let the sales people get phones without having to jump though 5 hoops to get a phone or a LP9 code or virtual bundle discount.
