I worked at AT&T (More than a year)

    Pros

Working at AT&T was a great experience that provided me with great opportunities as well as useful knowledge that i can carry with me throughout my career. The management was friendly and welcoming and the company culture was very laid back.

    Cons

There was really not much to complain about at AT&T, the management was very helpful and friendly at all times and the environment was very comfortable

    Advice to Management

No advice, my managers were truly amazing people to work for, i thoroughly enjoyed my time there.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fortunate to have some good managers in my 20 years working for AT&T. Always able to find someone to help with problems. Ability to work from home when the need arises. Nice discount on AT&T services for DIRECTV and mobile services.

    Cons

VPs and AVPs are continuously overhauling processes and work assignments. No real stability on staying on one team doing the same job. In 2 years time, I had 6 different managers. Lots of work is being outsourced overseas and to third party contractors so very difficult to get hired by AT&T now. When a new company is acquired, big layoffs shortly follow.

    Advice to Management

Instead of overhauling processes, try to improve the process in place to make it more streamlined and easier for the customers. Every time the process changes, it's hard for both customers and employees to know who is responsible for what.

I worked at AT&T (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent salary and benefits. Lots of OT available. Management flexible with working remotely. Discounts on cable and mobile phones. Bonus once a yearvv

    Cons

Constant layoffs and process changes. Outsourcing everything possible and who ever is left is expected to do more with less. My function required constant Schedule changes to accommodate customer requests. Poor lifestyle for anyone with a family.

    Advice to Management

Go to the office and speak to the employees face to face. Management team manages its employees via company instant messenger.

I worked at AT&T as a contractor (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There is an incredible amount of resources available to improve your skill set and develop professionally if you do the research.

    Cons

I can only speak on my experience as a consultant. In the 15 years I worked there, it was under 6 different contracts with 3 different firms. Job security/stability was always a challenge since every contract is at the mercy of the annual budget. More a fact of life than a “con”.

    Advice to Management

Hire more permanent and maintain the experienced knowledge base the organization helped develop.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It's a job, but keep looking

    Cons

Poor, dirty work environment as well as disgusting rest rooms with broken doors, toilets, sinks. Housekeeping will vacuum during your shift, right next to you while you might be on a conference call.

    Advice to Management

Allow OT because 40 hours just won't do it
