I have been working at AT&T part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good money, benefits are good if you're full time otherwise no one can afford it.

    Cons

Horrible hours, if you have any sort of life it will be over when working. No way to have a serious work/life balance. It is retail so you get treated like dirt and are expected to ask for more and thank them, at times. Management gets "Restructured" quite often so consistency is out the window. Our ability to make money has been decreasing every year while our CEO has given himself raises.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Work/life balance is pretty good since a lot of IT positions allow at least some telecommuting. Compensation and benefits are competitive and fair. They offer a good discount on Direct TV for employees.

    Cons

Job security is poor since they are good at outsourcing positions and seem to be eliminating positions every year just to turn around and hire a bunch of new people.

    Advice to Management

Need to do a better job of retaining talent that you have spent years developing

    Pros

    Loved the people and products

    Cons

Did not like the process to get things done. Laborius.

    Advice to Management

Listen to us in the field.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Direct TV for $10 monthly.
-Good experience if you have never done sales before and want to be in sales.

    Cons

    -Low volume store
    -Condescending supervisor
-After every sale you have to basically explain the transaction
    -Low pay
    -Low commissions
    -Union is nothing special
-Fellow employees were not fun to work with
-Overall not impressed but blessed to have employment

    Advice to Management

Treat people like people. Pay people a comfortable wage. Provide health care and paid time off from day one. STOP MICROMANAGING! Hire and/or promote management based on talent and people skills. Eliminate point system. This is a entry level position so avoid over selling the position especially in low volume stores.

I worked at AT&T (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Solid Pay.
    Intelligent workforce.
Benefits both medically and financially, with solid retirement options.

    Cons

    Changing Comp Plans.
Rational and Irrational goal-setting pressure weights downward, that usually ends up putting a wedge between management and sales.
The manager can make or break a store, and sometimes, you get the wrong kind of energy, and the store becomes slightly painful, to miserable, very quickly, without much recourse.

    Advice to Management

Don't use greed to get sales, use solutions, and find success the right way, even if it takes a little longer.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay, good benefits, ability for promotion, can be fun depending on the team

    Cons

Can be demanding, every style of management is different, promotion doesn't necessarily pay you better (unless you are promoted after some years), no true work/life balance (it's retail!)

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Hourly and commission
Get to use latest and greatest phones/devices

    Cons

    Retail hours
    Super political
    Sales goals are often unattainable
    High pressure from management

    Advice to Management

    Better sales structure in place

    Pros

Pay, Vacation time, coworkers, store hours, comfort for customers, employee incentives, great job to have for a young, up and comer.

    Cons

Management/Employee communications. TOO many goals that is very unrealistic to maintain if you're not in a big market area. Not enough employees at locations. Not the proper structure to help employees complete trainings

    Advice to Management

Get advice from your regular associates on how to operate at the store level and give the more respect. Employees will be happier and experiences will be better for customers which will lead to more success overall

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Discount direct tv 10.00 a month half off wireless service and off accessories. The training isn't too bad but it's just a cover up for what AT&T is about to do to you as a person.

    Cons

Everything!!! The companies focus is home solutions if you sell them and are consistently selling them you will still be told by management you are not doing good enough. I was very excited to come to this company and though it was the upper echelon of wireless companies within the first week of training I found out otherwise. Managers sole purpose is coaching they don't wait on customers they just coach but if you are in a store like mine coaching is basically assassinating your whole character for the companies benefit. You will hate this job within months if you work here I promise you. Going to work is more like a sentence as opposed to going to work to make money.

    Advice to Management

If you expect goals to be obtained regularly maintain the morale in your stores you claim to value customers but they can sense the miserableness in your stores after coaching and talking down to the people on your front line.
