    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

great benefits, good pay, good training, provides adequate tools

    Cons

Too big to figure out the real issues that employees face in their daily tasks. Often they can't decide what is important. Is it quality? efficiency? safety? Constantly reacting to problems instead of finding proactive long term solutions to issues. Local managers are forced to put pressure on technicians in order to meet goals that are sometimes unreasonable or near impossible because of other demands or limitations imposed by the same upper management/corporate.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are about as good as you could want especially the medical insurance. The pay is quite fair and is definitely the highest in the industry.

    Cons

The Union is what kills upward movement and keeps the employees and management from having a coach and mentor relationship. It takes a lot of the power from the manager to be able to handle issues at the lowest level. They have no manager discretion to handle things on a case by case basis. There is also a huge discrepancy in the pay between the 'old pots guys' and the premises technicians who do twice the work.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time in the field coaching your employees and keep hoping that the union will lay back and stop getting in the way of progress.

    Focus less on numbers

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Tool and truck are provided. Good benefits. Adequate paid time off.

    Cons

Very little control over what happens in the field. Weak union representation. Questionable metrics and work methods.
Very hard to move into another position without having to relocate.

    Advice to Management

I would suggest a deeper look into the scope of work and metrics required by premises technicians on a daily basis verses the scope of work for other positions in the field.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

good money, fun work, good hours, company vehicle, company tools

    Cons

Customers were not good to be around, the call centers would undercut you, sales either lied about the products and services or were not properly trained

    Advice to Management

The management while I was there was good, but the second line were not experienced and made it hard on the first line managers. Then, in turn, made it hard for the techs

    Pros

Company to preform work. Company provides all tools. Their gas, benefits, discounts on company products & services. I get @ least 40 hours every week.

    Cons

Some management teams tend to micro manage adults! But at the same time not focus on matters that can make techs even better in the long run.
