    I worked at AT&T full-time

    Pros

Great Pay, personable colleagues, (mostly), great place to get more depth to your experience. Tenured employees can be a a huge asset to your experience in learning the ropes with the company.

    Cons

You value is limited to your job scope. You will get scolded for sharing your opinion if not asked. You can get terminated instantly, even if your contract was just renewed. Tenured employees can be a detriment to your employment. Careful who you make friends with, it's well known that most will stab you in the back to advance their career or keep their job.

    Advice to Management

Build a community with your teams, they make it possible for you to have a job. Get to know your team members on a personal level. Stand up for your employees when they are the scape goat for something you mismanaged or someone else's fault.

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good overall structure, you know what it takes to be successful and I enjoyed working with the talented people and management teams.

    Cons

Lots of change and it's more volatile than it should be with higher rates of turnover in recent years.

    Advice to Management

Keep the Culture Great! More focus on keeping people during downtimes.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 19 years

    Pros

Salary is good for some. Benefits are good for managers. But both are getting. Worse and worse each year. (Lower raises, more expense for benefits)

    Cons

They do layoffs every year; leaving more work on fewer and fewer people. The work environment everywhere is toxic. I used to love working for this company. Now it’s just a paycheck that I worry if I’ll have in 6 months.

    Advice to Management

Stop making decisions without really knowing what it takes to get work done at the lower (individual contributor) levels.

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 19 years

    Pros

Pension, Healthcare benefits, ability to work on some interesting projects

    Cons

Terrible managers, no promotional opportunities, below market pay, enormous bureaucracy

    Advice to Management

First, there are way too many layers of management. Second, please hire competent managers to run the various business units.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Large company that is constantly evolving. Great diversity and inclusion program. A leader in telecom. Future direction not clear after acquisition of DirecTV and Time Warner. It looks like it wants to get into advertising and/or content. As far as advertising, it can't compete with Google or Facebook. Content remains to be seen.

    Cons

Took the tax break from the government and laying off thousands of people. Too many chiefs and not enough indians. Spend hundreds of millions (maybe billions) to put name on sport stadiums. Talk about innovation all the time, yet in reality, there are none. Very fragmented. Internal groups/departments do not play well together.

    Advice to Management

Break up into smaller companies to gain focus and direction. Pay attention to employees and match up their skills with their job content. Spend less money on putting name on sport stadiums.
