I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people, great technology, great projects.
Flexible telecommuting, mainly because I worked with global teams.

    Cons

I'm in Northern California, and unless you're in Sales or network support, there's limited growth opportunities as they have not hired to expand in this are for maybe 8-10 years.

    Advice to Management

Too many layoffs in recent years. It would be good to better leverage attrition!

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits, salary, and opportunities for young people to gain valuable experience that you can take it elsewhere for higher compensation. Good promotion opportunities if you can relocate, though relocation $ is rarely offered.

    Cons

Long hours, frequent surplus conditions, and now must live in one of a few cities referred to as collaboration zones unless you are selling or installing services locally. Upper management talks good culture, but in the last 3 years it is not consistently practiced so message is lost as it trickles down.

    Advice to Management

Plan better to avoid 35%+ reductions in numerous organizations simultaneously. Control debt ratio. Surplus management not performing instead of those with stellar performance who don't live in the most desired geographical area when that specific position can be done from anywhere due to the nature of it. Assure the right middle management leaders are in place.

I have been working at AT&T as a contractor (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There's great folks to work with, and I was able to work remote from home most of the time. Prior to the last couple of years, it was a job with a good balance between comfortable and challenging

    Cons

Aside from AT&T cutting to the bone & beyond in their IT division, upper mgmt is too disconnected from what's happening only a couple of levels below, and as a result the chaos and stress levels are about what you'd expect

    Advice to Management

Get your Technology AVPs and the levels immediately above & below to cut out the politics and pay attention to what you're doing to your workforce. If not, you'll soon be a nice tabletop balanced on toothpicks.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Decent Salary, Pension, Benefits, Bonus

    Cons

Company is over leverage, severe debt. Regular layoffs 3 in 2018...........Identity is suspect. Moving to a Media company......Mass layoffs, yet hiring for Media. Instead of keeping current employees they don't attempt to keep who they have. No loyalty

    Advice to Management

Be loyal to your current employees
