    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I worked in the retail sales environment for almost 18 years. I was a single mother with no college degree. I worked extremely hard, with undesirable hours, weekends, nights, and holidays. They have above average pay, good benefits. Medical, dental, vision, 401k. They allowed me to establish a good life , indepedantly, but tough hours. I was able to buy my own home and even save money. I could provide for my children, but rarely spend time with them. The people you work with become good friends. After all, you are spending more time with them than anyone else in your life.

    Cons

Your job stability is always questionable, because nothing is black and white. You work in a gray area. There is always something throughout the day that you might do that could get you fired. It all depends on who's watching you and how they feel about you. I had a 21 year old manager that decided I didn't know how to do my job properly, so started putting me on steps of discipline for very trivial, biased things. Management is questionable, and they can determine your livelihood. If you make this a career, they set you up for failure because they give you time off, but then if you take it an dint hit your quotas, you will be fired. Their expectations breed an unethical environment that I never bought into. Maybe that's why I'm gone now.

    Advice to Management

Quit viewing your people who do hand to hand combat everyday as dispensable. We have not only the toughest job, but the least respected. I was let go after 17 years with absolutely no remorse. No severance, and the strategy was no unemployment. We shall see if I can get that. I felt like fighting ATT was like fighting the IRS.

Treat your employees how you need before. It's a store manager vs everyone else mentality

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good vacation time, good benefits and discounts, team atmosphere, meeting cool people daily, making a family from coworkers, 2 days off per week guaranteed, not much overtime

    Cons

Intense sales pressure, un- realistic goals for markets, pay isn't worth the stress from customers and management, unless you can exceed goals for commission, or you have been there for many years and make more per hour..

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

AT&T has some of the best benefits I've ever been part of for the lowest cost out of pocket. Working in a constantly changing environment keeps you from becoming bored. AT&T owns a number of other their companies such as DirecTv and cricket so moving into a different area of the business is relatively easy.

    Cons

The retail store has a lot of the same cons as any retail job. Nights, weekend, holidays, crabby/rude customers. Some long shifts too depending on your location.

    Advice to Management

Better reward your employees for going above and beyond

    I worked at AT&T part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Insurance, fair hourly pay + commission

    Cons

Too much middle management and micromanaging.

    Advice to Management

When you have overwhelming evidence that a manager needs to go, get rid of the manager (missing money multiple occasions, left store unlocked, 100% negative employee reviews)

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Company has a union. You have access from day one regardless if you pay dues. You get money toward uniforms will buy you about 2 shirts every 6 mts

    Cons

Management changes frequently. I worked for the company 5 plus years. When you start you are told it is all about the customer however, somewhere down the line that is lost. Every year commission got lower and lower. Also jobs are shipped overseas

    Advice to Management

I believe this is higher up. Like I stated before this gets lost somewhere down the line. It becomes about the numbers instead of the customers
