    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great concession benefits, clear sense of where the business is going, lateral moves always welcome and encouraged. I also have to mention that I was laid off, and they were beyond fair in the management of departmental surplus; we were HIGHLY encouraged to apply to jobs within the company.

    Cons

Huge company, so sometimes everything moves too slow for the business needs. Advancement is questionable to me; because it feels as if the people who should be promoted never do so, and the "club members" do get promoted. My next con is a personal thing, but as much as the company claims they have the higher standards in terms of ethics, I would not be surprised is at some point here is some huge scandal that shows the other way. I guess lots of big corporations are the same way.

    Advice to Management

Overflowing employees with emails, does not solve a communication problem; it is just more volume to the inbox.

I worked at AT&T as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Was free to try new things to improve department. Coworkers were skilled and gracious.

    Cons

As a contractor was constantly worried about loosing my job. Company was regularly on the edge of going on strike. Department was reorganized 4 times already in 2017. Company is a Telecom company trying to masquerade as a tech company.

    Advice to Management

If you really want to be a tech company then you need to better foster an environment that would bring in high quality talent and retain them.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, employee discounts, and plenty of perks.

    Cons

Poor leadership. It's hard to find good leadership. Most of them don't care that you have a life outside of work. No work life balance this coming from a mother of two kids.

    Advice to Management

You don't always have to be a pencil pusher. You have your own ideas be brave and stand up for your team.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pension and 401k at least when I was there.

    Cons

The longer you stay with At&t the more likely you are to be let go. I maxed out on being able to receive a raise and when I tried to apply for a new position I was never notified if they received my resume or if I was even being considered for the position. It was all about who you know. I had over 10 years of experience with the company and a great reputation with management but they always promoted younger inexperienced people who just wanted jobs and not a career with them. I'm glad I'm gone because now with the experience they gave me I'm using it with another company that appreciates my ideas and recommendations. Sounds like I'm winning...thanks At&t!

    Advice to Management

When searching for employees, look for the ones who want a career and not a job. It will definitely work out better for you.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great foot in the door Company to get experience on your Resume. Decent Benefits, discounts on AT&T products and mediocre hourly-rate wages vs scope of work. Doesn't require a degree to get hired - just High School Diploma or equivalent.

    Cons

No real advancement or lateral transfer opportunities, aside from moving up into Management. Corporate Greed at its finest!!! Company always looking to cut good existing middle-class jobs, that pay more, and increase scope of work for us at pennies more an hour. Company always wanting to increase Health Benefit premiums as well. Doesn't bargain in good-faith with the Union. At the time of this review, current CWA West Contract has been expired for 15 months! Claims from the Company to the Union that "there's no money to increase wages", yet Company is mid negotiations to purchase Time/Warner for $85.5 BILLION! And has had multi-billion dollars net income last year. There's no intentions to share the wealth towards the Customer-facing Employees, at the bottom, who are the ones that take care of the Customers and cause the company to generate that income.

    Advice to Management

Share the Wealth! Bargain in good-faith! Happy Employees = better work environment = better Customer service and the increase likely-hood of reviews, like this one, from hitting Sites like this.
