I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Exciting and engaging work, career path development resources and opportunities. Great atmosphere, diverse workplace. Opportunities to make a significant impacts on the business and our customers at all levels. Excellent benefits.

    Cons

Vast disparity in pay among same title positions. Career advancement opportunities can be limited at times an in certain organizations. Too many organizational restructures. This year alone I have been reorg'd 4 times and have had 5 different supervisors. Very little feedback on performance until end of year reviews.

    Advice to Management

Continue providing career development and excellent benefits. Improve communication when reorganizing and do a better job on explaining the "why". Improve pay parity on like levels and titles. There should not be $25k+ salary differences between employees in same title and management level with equal years of service and performance history.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company is going through a top to bottom transformation. From a telecom company to an entertainment conglomerate. Entertainment anywhere, anytime on any device. Fron the purchase of DirecTV, to the purchase of a mobility company in Mexico and now the upcoming purchase of Time-Warner (content, content, content!), AT&T is transforming itself.

    Cons

AT&T is changing so quickly I believe it's cutting essential personel and client services to an extent that it will hurt Enterprise sales. Far too many layoffs are occurring to make up for revenue declines. A lot of the experience is being let go. At this stage, given how many lay offs are occurring, I could not recommend AT&T to a friend.

    Advice to Management

Be careful. You are getting rid of the very people and organizations that were a differentiator....something other companies did not offer their clients. I fear AT&T is cutting far too many individuals and it will come back to haunt them.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Steady work

    - Great benefits

    Cons

    - Pervasive, PC 'group think' throughout the company insures the non-wireless side of this company is doomed to dinosaur style extinction.

    - You are just a replaceable cog in the wheel, with no chance to ever be promoted based upon merit.

    - Very hierarchical, military-style culture.

    - A sea of mediocrity where slackers rule!

    Advice to Management

    They never listen to advice!

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Job security, employee benefits, new facilities in countries with recent investments, free mobile phones and plans.

    Cons

In recently acquired properties as Mexico there wasn´t any headquarter processes or procedures implemented into the companies acquired so for many employees there isn´t any corporate identity that motivates them. Employees does not feel like working in a US company leader in its country.

    Advice to Management

Transition in newly acquired properties shouldn´t be based only in switching brands. AT&T needs to start running programs to switch employee philosophy to have a truly engagement with the company.
