    Pros

I learned how to be a true professional My managers except one were always encouraging me to be better.

    Cons

As with this industry, lots of changes within the last 10 years, salary and people were affected with the mergers.

    Advice to Management

A few managers need more professional grooming.

    Pros

AT&T offers many opportunities for training, movement and advancement within the company. An employee is only limited by his or her enthusiasm or resourcefulness. It has a comprehensive benefit offering that is comparable or better than most other Fortune 500 companies. The company is very sensitive to the needs of its employees both personally and professionally. It is located in many regions in the US and world. There are many opportunities to telecommute if the job is conducive to that environment. Most departments within the company have a great sense of camaraderie and sharing of information. It has great pride in its brand recognition and how it is percieved by the public. AT&T believes wholeheartedly in corporate philanthropy and offers matching funds and grants to many relief efforts and organizations worldwide.

    Cons

It is a very large corporation. It is very structured in its operations and sometimes that feels limiting or restrictive to employees. There can be a lot of red tape or processes to get things done.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should continue to keep their eye on the long term goals of the corporation on a whole as well as keeping their fingers on the pulse of the temperment of the employees. Many heads are better than one. There are many amazing professionals that can offer insight into the direction the company should take. Continued funding in new technologies and advancements in communications that are being introduced globally (not just domestically) is key to our continued success and stature in the world market place.

    Pros

money, benefits, love my employees, union, vacation pay, its all around a good job. you do meet some awesome people out there that love the services you sale and you make good relationships with your customers

    Cons

its very very stressful, you have insane goals to hit every month, and ur selling 5 different products, all with different services for each. u need to be outgoing, and have a really good personality. you have to keep sane from all the customers and screaming, and them acting like children but its worth it. i do think for all of the servies we sale that we do need a higher pay. pay is very good but then they give us 4 more services to sale with the same pay.

    Advice to Management

if management spent just 1 day in my or my coworkers shoes, they would see how stressful it is and realize that some days our jobs are more crazy than theirs.

    Pros

    -Great flexibility
    -Excellent environment
-Superior compensation if you do your job

    Cons

-Customer Service and the store reps don't always see eye to eye, which is frustrating on the job

    Advice to Management

Write people up when they deserve it, too many people doing too many sketchy things and never getting in trouble for it is extremely frustrating

    Pros

Benefits including free local / long distance phone service, 50% off wireless plans. Fully funded pension in addition to 401k. Allows for career moves into other deparments to broaden experience.

    Cons

Does not actively support teleworking even though we claim to and are the largest telecommunications company in the world.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the dead weight. There still are not good processes for managers to fire non-performers. We just shuffle them to new jobs rather than dealing with the problem.

    Pros

You really see the impacts of your quality of work. You see it ripple through the organization and it pays off. Very self gratifying, improves your local work environment.

    Cons

AT&T Real Estate operations is allowing what were once great facilities to deteriorate, and rapidly deteriorate by outsourced contractors tearing up the place and exhibiting poor personal hygiene. AT&T Real Estate operations are penny-wise and pound-foolish.

    Advice to Management

Too much outsourcing going on, allowing good domain knowledge to leave the company after two years. Too much focus on that shareholder dividend and not enough focus on the wireless network infrastructure.

    Pros

My job has decent pay, great benefits, and its union so I don't have to worry about being laid off all the time.

    Cons

I am fairly satisfied with my job. It's honest work for honest pay. I would like more money but who wouldn't?

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees right and your employees will treat you right. Also I would like to still get a annual bonus.

    Pros

It is a big company and has a lot of assets. It is nice to work for a big company, the largest comm company in the world. It is unionized. Always join the union and support your brothers and sisters. Wages are typically higher than those found for similar positions because wages are negotiated by the Union and the Company. Job security is usually much more stable than smaller companies. Offer ability to live all over the world.

    Cons

It is vulnerable to economic conditions and can lose stability

    Advice to Management

    none

    Pros

Flexible work environment. Able to telecommute or flex hours when requested. Provided with proper work tools and comfortable working environment. San Ramon facility has (had) a nice cafeteria. Middle management VPs encouraged employees to be making themselves fireproof or at least technosavvy so they would land well if they lost their jobs.

    Cons

Out sourced a lot of IT to IBM, which in turn, off shored to other countries. End result was a lot of AT&T employees out of work. San Ramon facilith was due for refurbish. Training was encouraged, but not a lot to be found.

    Advice to Management

Offer more training in the salaried IT area and make the process for taking advantage of the training more visible.
