I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

money is decent now that its base is more and the commission is less. about 25/hr 6,000 commission /yr if at 100% to goal. Can really make a lot with enough overtime. Even with all the bullshyt and problems I'm a better manager from it. If you can make at AT&T you can pretty much make it anyways. What doesn't kill makes you stronger...right?

    Cons

enormous amount of pressure to sell with unrealistic goals. upper management in my area are cut throat. They smile in your face but are ready to through you under bus to save their own butt. not the right accountability. standards and expectations are not even across the board. A lot of mixing business and personal relationship too. A lot of politics no every says what they mean, and if you are a person that does you won't last long.

    Advice to Management

we get it stake/share holders are important, but so are the low level employees and the customer we serve. its hard to get sales rep to sell when your constantly cutting their commission and increasing their goals.

Great pay! They are also Union so that was good in some instances.

    Cons

Terrible hours and the sales goals are WAY to high. I always felt like I was cheating the customer.

Unrealistic metrics and commission structure was altered to pay little to none for achieving goals.

    Advice to Management

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I don't remember them ever missing a payday. 401K matching. Insurance. We were allowed to work under a roof with mostly working A/C.

    Cons

Unless you generate revenue, they could care less about you, and even then it has to be 6+ figures. Every quarter or two they figured out another way to cut more corners. Every once in a while they'd take away something big and give back something small like they were doing us some kind of favor. Meanwhile, they're still making record profits. Our workload was always stressful and though they projected we would need more staff to handle the workload, they never hired enough to meet that requirement. Only to replace people that quit, minus a few. Had us create a new tech tool for them under the guise that it was to "help" us out. It helped us out of a job. They laid off most of our crew once we perfected the tool so they could replace us with part-time college kids with zero tech skills. Even though they kept promising us that we would not be losing our jobs. Almost zero opportunity for advancement. Anybody who did get promoted never got a raise or a new job title. Just different job description. At least half of them were schmoozing BSers, unfit for the task. Almost everybody else was denied transfer out and when people decided to look for work elsewhere, the Boss was notorious for telling potential future employers that employee was not eligible for re-hire, regardless of how they left. Typical corporate circus.

    Advice to Management

Think for yourself. If you can sleep ok, question your moral boundaries. Find a good therapist. Search for a more fulfilling career.
