I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 19 years

    Pros

Good pay, great benefits, and a lot of opportunity to get education in a technological environment. There are several internal opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

Very difficult to navigate and get things accomplished in a reasonable time. Must be in a larger city where AT&T is centralized to have more opportunity.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The pay, benefits, and commission are good but they are changed constantly. By networking you can move around the company. 2 years is the average time someone holds a current title and they move on to another position. The technology, products, and services are first class. AT&T has a very powerful brand name.

    Cons

Constant shift in priorities and objectives. Very large company and it takes awhile for anything to get done. This was the toughest sales job I've had. You are told to sell but are left taking care of billing issues, failed implementations, and service issues. The account manager is responsible because the customer cannot get resolutions through 800 numbers. It is close to impossible to figure out your commission,...

    Advice to Management

Too much middle management. Voices of the customers are not heard and the root causes of billing & ordering will not be fixed.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 19 years

    Pros

    Above average pay & benefits

    Cons

long hours, challenging targets, very generic to non-existent corporate culture, stagnant, bored & apathetic management, total lack of regard for customer experience or satisfaction, corporate goal is cornering markets & growing monopoly, rather than leading with innovation; extremely anti-union, over preoccupied with mindless cost-cutting, ultimately run by Wall Street robots & not human beings.

    Advice to Management

innovate, stop shipping jobs overseas, return more balance to the relationship between customers, employees & shareholders.

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 19 years

    Pros

    Good salary and benefits.

    Cons

The sales people are asked to be unethical in dealing with customers to boost the bottom line. Lower level workers are not heard. Management does not support their subordinates. Quotas are set way to high when the economy is struggling. Not the same culture since the acquisition in 2004 by SBC.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the sales and sales support people. They are the ones meeting with the customer and they have a pulse on their needs. One bad manager can truly effect the success of their people. There needs to be an advocate that employees can call on in times of distress. No one listens and the managers are always given the higher level of perspective. My manager was asking her people to be unethical in the message...

I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

Learning the telecommunications industry. It is good for that.

    Cons

Long hours, out-of-touch management, lack of support.

    Advice to Management

Learn the job the people you supervise do so you can manage from experience, not from incompetence borne from seat of the pants direction.

    I worked at AT&T

    Pros

The only positives were the money and benefits were above average.

    Cons

Everything else, management is not clear in what they expect and do not make bonus opportunities achievable. In my particular office, only people of a certain color were promoted and everyone else was sabotaged when other departments inquired about them. Management would encourage us to do something and then hang us out to dry. The whole office was littered with irregularities and unethical behavior.

    Advice to Management

The structure needs a complete rebuild.
