I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great job for someone just getting into sales, or someone that has experience. Because Att is such a large company they are able to provide great learning resources to improve your job skills. Great pay, benefits, and bonuses.

    Cons

Fast paced environment and some of the products can be difficult to sell. The job is definitely determined by the manager you have and managers seem to move around a lot so things change quickly.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay that starts you with a commission check when you're training. Interacting with customers and helping them leave with a smile can be fulfilling work.

    Cons

When I shadowed before selling I saw an experienced sales rep get transferred seven times over the phone only to fail in activating a new watch. I recently spent five hours between departments porting a number from another company to AT&T for a single line. In an understaffed store with a long queue for customers the guest does not come first as the sales reps are more than often helpless to assist them; or, if you try to assist your guest you'll find yourself at odds with management who contradicts what the corporate reps tell you to do when a problem arises. No department seems to agree or know the correct protocols for efficient help and this leaves our guests infuriated.

Store level: micromanagement and managers who will not take responsibility for mistakes.

    Advice to Management

take responsibility for your mistakes. If you cause an error, fix it. Stop passing the buck.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is great for not needing a degree, or much experience at all since their training process goes a long way. Great opportunities to move up.

    Cons

Hours are based on seniority, so for the first couple of years say goodbye to your nights and weekends.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The job offered good pay with generous benefits.

    Cons

There attendance policy was complicated and schedules were not flexible. The telecommunications industry was evolving at a very high pace. The company was forced to change its focus to sales in order to keep up in the industry. It began to discourage our representatives, while a customer was calling to resolve or understand their bill, the reps were focused on up selling. As a regulated company of the FCC and CPUC we had to keep up with upholding those standards. Along with promotions changing often. A big part of the job was attending many training and development classes.

    Advice to Management

Always be knowledgeable with changes and rules that change often so you can provide the best support to those on the frontline.

    Pros

Union protection, 401k, and benefits, there's possibilities to move up but you have to move elsewhere, tuition reimbursement, stock bonus once a year, as well as discounted services. Tv, internet, home phone and wireless

    Cons

Quotas constantly increase, more overtime increases, coaches are not the most willing to help you if you need help or have a question.

    Advice to Management

Be willing to help people and coach not just be a disciplinarian.
