I have been working at AT&T full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Team work. Atmosphere. Money. Company. Great benefits. Good training. The company is a fortune 10 company and treads its workers as such.

    Cons

They sales reps are expected to sale everything in entertainment. So not only are you worried about phones but also have to worry about directv.

    Advice to Management

We bought directv and are expected to churn them out. Focus more on costumer relations.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Discount on phone plans
    - You definitely make a lot of friends and are able to network
    - My location had great people and management
    - Uniform allotment given twice a year
    - Union
    - There are opportunities to move up if you're a top seller

    Cons

    - Doesn't value employees overall
    - Too sales driven; lots of "shady" practices
    - Too much outsourcing
    - Disconnect between stores and customer care on the phone

    Advice to Management

Direct management was great. Upper, upper management doesn't see the bigger picture of making the company steadily grow, rather focuses too much on pleasing shareholders right away.

    I worked at AT&T part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The money and vacation time were decent. I was making $16/hour while part time and working on my bachelors. I got 2 full vacation weeks a year. School costs can be reimbursed if the major is on the “approved” list (and you agree to continue to work for the company for a set amount of time).

    Cons

Constant pressure to sale every single product that AT&T offers. There’s a revolving door of managers. I had SEVEN managers in the three years I worked there. That doesn’t even include the assistant managers. The training sessions at HQ were mind numbingly awful.

    Advice to Management

When I first started, we were told that not every product would fit/work for every customer and that we needed to tailor the solution to the customer. At the end of my time there (3 years later), we were penalized and written up if we didn’t sale both DirecTV and Digital Life to every single person that walked through the door. Management would lie to customers about pricing in order to sale, and then have no solution when the customer came back complaining about the difference to what they were promised.

    Pros

The pay was great, I made about 1000-1500 before the commission a paycheck, access to the latest phone tech, and the commission.

    Cons

Micro Managment, Horrible Leadership, Bad Sales techniques.

    Advice to Management

Stop micro-managing! you hire people to sell, trust them to sell. don't get involved in your reps sales unless asked too!

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good insurance benefit and hourly pay. If you do overtime your check looks decent. The company is union base Cwa. Always room to grow within the company.

    Cons

The management team doesn’t acknowledge the frontline employees labor. Most of the “new management” never worked in a retail location therefore they wouldn’t understand the struggle to close a sale. Store managers and assistant managers need better training on basic operations and customer service. This company try to hide behind “ethic sales” in reality it isn’t true. If an employee makes a complaint against management about COBC, that employee becomes a target of mistreatment. The company might seem good from outside but in reality unless you willing to live in AT&T turn around.

    Advice to Management

A leader is a teacher not a dictator. A business isn’t your high school locker room but a place where you divided the personal and the business. Most importantly before hiring new managers try to see beyond the sales.
