    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great, solid, historical company. Good benefits & compensation. Lots of training opportunities. In all, a great place to be.

    Cons

Almost yearly layoffs and re-orgs, which caused a lot of stalled momentum and staff uncertainty. I lived through about 15 rounds of layoffs in my 20 years at AT&T.
Increasing reliance on contractors to do the work of laid-off employees.

    Advice to Management

At least 50% of your re-orgs are probably unnecessary/harmful to productivity and morale.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

National incentives are nice. Training a optimal. The job is not hard from a technical standpoint. You can more or less control your paycheck if you work hard once you understand the commission structure.

    Cons

Goals go against where the industry is headed. The wireless market is saturated and just about everybody has internet and more people are cutting the cord in cable. And home security is better for people to just set up themselves with IoT devices hat are cheaper and better than the what is sold in store. The website often has better prices so you compete against the website and can't win. There is a disconnect between the job and what customers think we do. The scheduling goes by seniority and there are fewer or no full-time positions being added and many tenured reps. Unless you can do something else your only vertical movement option is store management for which positions are being cut. Most people only care about their personal paycheck than their co workers or the company. Mix that with increasing goals and a customer service base that has sales goals too, as well as many broke reps, and you get many angry people for which you had nothing to do with but you have to help. There is also a disconnect for what you get paid to do and what management wants.

    Advice to Management

Have experience selling the product. Too many managers have never sold the current products and services. Do something a machine could not do. Don't get bothered when asked questions and tell the truth. There is a manager answer and there is a real answer. There is a lack of consistency. Managers change so often and it's almost like changing jobs when that happens.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay good benefits was a good telephone company to work for ot any longer they care more about the bottom line than they do about customer service

    Cons

Treat you badly benefits are not as good now as they were in the past future not as secure for present employees as it used to be in the past

    Advice to Management

Change your ways of treating employees they are not measured by your msoc numbers as to how good they are with your services but how well they interact with their potential customers

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great pay & benefits, awesome internal education system

    Cons

Job outsourcing, hard to move up based on merit and employee worth, limited flexibility when it comes to schedules, absences or tardies based on uncontrollable life events.

    Advice to Management

Keep customer facing jobs on shore and increase internal hiring based on employee merit and worth versus who they know. Also create more work life balance.

    Pros

Good benefits, and pay increases..the company has a union so they help make a lot of things easier for employees

    Cons

The point system is bad if you get sick you only get about 7 points for the year and they are really strict with quotas.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Worked there when it was a great company - excellent benefits, family oriented organization, decent pay.. that all fell off about 10-12 yeas ago..

    Cons

Lost their way, got too caught up in the corporate world of data - employees were no longer people but numbers and that made it much easier to treat them as such

    Advice to Management

Return to the days when of being SBC, when it was unheard of for people to actually leave the company.. nowadays we walk out the door without a second thought because there are much better offers out there

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

AT&T has a fun culture and decent benefits. You get 50% off of all services, which is pretty cool.

    Cons

Of course the retail hours. Also the comp structure was continually changing, and going down instead of up. While goals went up, the company started paying us less. Also, they started micromanaging more.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to talk to reps and be more consistent.
