I have been working at AT&T part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay is great and there's a lot opportunities when it comes to climbing the corporate ladder. It is also a very friendly environment, everyone seems to take to everyone very well!

    Cons

The only cons I would see for other people is that it would be too much for them, too much info to take in, too much responsibility on your part but I mean when you're getting paid more than twice the minimum wage, it is expected for you to be two times as encouraged to complete your job in a professional and efficient manner!

    Advice to Management

Ask the rookies if they need any help, they take in a lot of info when they first start and are more than likely to be lost

    Pros

Company has good benefits. Many people have been with AT&T for over 20 years, showing that the company values its people

    Cons

Not necessarily a comment against this company in particular, but as with all large companies it can be cumbersome and difficult to function an an agile way. Especially very diverse companies

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

total autonomy, engineering freedom based on knowledge

    Cons

managers lacking knowledge of industry, too much sell what we tell you not what fits or what the customer wants. passing costs of fiber builds to customers has negative impact on sales. Sales comp system was inaccurate. I was told one year I was over-paid $10000 and chain of command told me to pay this amount back or it was my job on the line. I refused to pay anything back until I could see EXACTLY what sales I was over paid on. I was on a conference call with the state unit. We discussed the matter and I stated that the amount in question was a considerable amount and I wanted to review sales where I was over-paid. I asked for records on my contracts as this was tracked by tracking number & contract. Stood my ground & issue was dropped for lack of information for charge back.

    Advice to Management

at&t legacy processes do not fit regional sales efforts. Remove RPU as it does not reflect customer churn accurately. Revive the land-line business/broadband services & drive good broadband content.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is good, benefits are decent. Also, access to tuition assistance is a bonus.

    Cons

The constant feeling of being owned grows old. As a tech, you do not have a set time you are done for the day. Also Union complicates everything and is a joke!

    Advice to Management

Allow for more vacation time to be competitive. Other companies offer far more paid time away to allow an employee not to burn out.
