I have been working at AT&T (More than a year)

    Pros

You work on your own. As long as you do good work, quality, and meet up your numbers (2 installs 2 repairs) you should be ok.

    Cons

Politics, problems with orders. Scope of work feels unreachable at times. Contract negotiations that the union leave behind that affect our work and our wage pay. Going on strike. Customers being rude. Suspensions.

    Advice to Management

    Lead by good examples.

    Pros

    Benefits / Pay is ok

    Cons

MicroManaged , this isn't a career , Managers are fired all the time. Company is set up for you to fail .

    Advice to Management

Learn to treat your employees with respect. If you want employees to treat customers with respect , you need to learn the same yourself.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The pros is the experience that you will accumulate because after this job everything else will be easier.

    Cons

Micro managing. Stress with getting your goal attained and helping customers on billing questions that will take an hour from your shift and then if it's your lucky day you're going to get a bad survey then a coaching from your manager. So no sales and all of the crap. That is almost an everyday thing! Salary looks enticing but you will work hard and face customer who will step all over you! Not really worth it.

    Advice to Management

Managers should be a leader, not all of them knows that. Some gets promoted because of who they know. And then there's managers who are absolute liars to their employees and customers.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits, compensation, no traveling, decent hours

    Cons

Layoffs are a regular occurance because they don’t want to pay people. They’d rather hire cheap overseas. Doesn’t matter if you’ve been a great asset or a solid employee. Once you hit 15+ years, you go to the chopping block. They give 90 days to get another job & then pull all of them. Sad.

    Advice to Management

Good luck when no one knows what they are doing because you drove all the talent out.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The benefits are fantastic - both product discounts and healthcare. The pay is decent unless you are in a non-customer facing or support job.

    Cons

Constant purchasing of other companies creates a never-ending cycle of layoffs and "surplus." Those of us with more than 15 years service were the first to go, regardless of position or performance. If you are over 40, don't bother.

    Advice to Management

Youth is not the answer to everything just because they cost less. Retain some of the wireline employees. Bring the ordering centers back to the United States. Contract workers are not good for every department.

    Pros

The only good thing about it is the money, base pay plus commissions

    Cons

Horrible CRM systems, unacceptable systems training, at&t processes, rude customers, ivr system, too many departments

    Advice to Management

Stop comparing your job to mine, it's not the same thing.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Guaranteed hours, schedule created month in advance

    Cons

Scheduling based on seniority, sales goals and company objectives change frequently and performance is based solely on your ability to sell, very pushy sales tactics, point system for attendance

    Advice to Management

Bring the human element back into the work place, value work ethic, timing and attendance, celebrate to elevate, stop using scare tactics to get employees to perform
