I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

free wireline phone as an employee

    Cons

The worst management I have ever worked for. Culture is an atmosphere of fear. Failure to hire over the long term has resulted in a stagnant computing environment. This company is far behind all telecommunication and entertainment companies in IT offerings, consumer products. Your skills and dedication will not be recognized at AT&T.

    Advice to Management

    Do yourself and AT&T a favor--RETIRE.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

As it's a large company, you can move around to different jobs, providing any are available.

    Cons

They don't treat their employees well; they only care about the upper execs and shareholders. They make people do their own computer lease rolls every couple of years, but the execs don't have to do their own. It's because they're too cheap to pay the people that used to do this work as a dedicated staff. They discriminate based on age, laying off the older workers and trying to get them out of the company. They lay off people just prior to full retirement eligibility too in order to limit their pension liability.
They took away people's cubicles and forced them to reserve drop-in space every day and carry a phone handset into the office all the time. I believe it's because they realized many people would work from home instead and this would save them work space/real estate, utilities, etc.
Execs made a horrible deal, having to pay 4B when a merger didn't go through. Nobody's head rolled on that preposterous negotiation. Then they pinched pennies at the bottom, laying off more workers.

    Advice to Management

Your company is nothing without your employees.
