    Pros

Great opportunity to help sales representatives reach their professional and personal goals by working with them to develop and follow their goals.

    Cons

Working weekends and dealing with some customers that feel entitled and treat sales representatives poorly.

    Advice to Management

Work on developing employees more to keep turnover low.

    Pros

Great customers, lots of opportunities if you know the right people.

    Cons

Horrible communication across different parts of the organization. They expect you to get stuff done and are put in unsafe situations while trying to get it done still. Work is a balancing act and we haven't had a raise in years. So if you get hired , ask for the maximum you can get because you get a raise for a while as an entry level tech.

    Advice to Management

Actually try to help out the techs instead of throwing your weight around. Management has two faces, one face shows that they care and they're all about the rules and safety. The other face is all about the numbers and getting the job done and getting your numbers up. We know you have a lot on your plate, but don't have a bad day and then take it out on the techs like some supervisors do.

    I worked at AT&T part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are awesome: 6% matched 401K, 50% off Mobile service, 50% off U-Verse, 50% off accessories. Great pay + commission is relatively easy to attain.

    Cons

Management culture is very much like micromanaging, but they teach managers to do so in a way that's leading and not critiquing. For example, they are supposed to ask "what do you think you can improve from that transaction?" instead of "You forgot to offer home services". As is every sales job, they are very numbers oriented, so sales are very competitive among reps and different stores in the area.
VERY strict attendance policy. This job was very straining on my school schedule. In addition, we had to request PTO a month in advance. Tardiness is on a point system, and once you exceed a number of points, you will automatically be terminated. Some tenured workers will put in requests in the beginning of the year and you will lose your chance to take any of those days off (usually around holidays, etc.) Be wary if you are the type that needs or likes to take vacations or are tardy often.

    Advice to Management

Be less constricting on employees. Some freedom allows for exploration--trial and error. More breathing room will make reps less tense, which customers can totally read when you're handling transactions. If reps are more at ease, customers will be too, and they won't get a car salesman experience but rather a quality guest experience.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great pay to work ratio. It is unionized and benefits are decent. Opportunity to move up within 6 months is reasonable.

    Cons

Work life balance is terrible. PTO must be used to have a Saturday off. Weekends are reserved for those with higher seniority. Forced overtime at times and stricked punctuality rules.

    Advice to Management

Rotate weekends off and loosen sick day rules to something similar to today's modern company policy. Stop promoting based on sales numbers and look at actual qualified candidates for management. Better training for management in terms of peer to peer motivation and leadership. Anyone can be a dictator but a not all can be a leader.
