I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Big company, good experience, tuition reimbursement

    Cons

Lay offs, constant pressure for numbers, lead with fear not motivation, lack of work life balance, hours are long and salary doesn’t reflect the 10-12 hour days, capped commissions

    Advice to Management

I used to take pride in working for AT&T, the product and services we sold were always in the top of the competitors. We used to get compensated great and “tier out” when we would exceed our monthly goals. Now they cap our commission and will announce when they lift the cap like it’s a reward to us and can cap it whenever they want. Hourly sales employees are usually Union if it’s a corporate sales job but the union is useless and doesn’t provide any real protection for the employees, they recently agreed to a new contract and announced a massive layoff of the sales support rep role which is a big hit to the stores for back office and store operations. They have a big focus on making things automated and taking away our jobs to increase profits while the CEO continues to get an increase in pay and bonus. AT&T is really pressuring people into going to in home sales and it’s essentially a glorified door to door sales role with quotas most of the company is not meeting, while rewarding people with shady business practices with job promotions and sticking the rest of the in home experts with a terrible base salary, expecting them to work 10-12 hour days with constant pressure to hit daily numbers without care of their families or the sales representatives lives. If you’re trying to make some decent money without a college degree, AT&T can be the job for you. Don’t make a career out of it, you’ll regret it. Take advantage of their tuition reimbursement and get out fast before you fall into the sunken place and can’t get out until you’re laid off.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    got a paycheck on time

    Cons

Forced overtime! Management constantly tried to cheat you out of money. management broke laws and rules, and when reported was told it "wouldn't happen again" but continued in other ways. Hard to move in the company if you don't know someone already higher than you. Management makes up their own rules and change them constantly expecting you to know they changed. Bought DirecTV and Time Warner Media, trying to get a good footing in subscriber TV services when they are currently seeing HUGE amounts of customers cutting the cord. Slow to build out infrastructure for services making money wireless and fiber.

    Advice to Management

stop buying services that are failing and focus on internet and wireless phones!

    I worked at AT&T full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Average 15/hr plus commission average of 1500.

    Cons

Horrible work life balance. As a new employee you will have the WORST shifts. I got very tired of working 12-Close 5 days a week. The schedule is based on senority which seems fair until you realize how overworked you are compared to everyone else. Exhuasting to say the least.

Also, you will be on your feet for those 9+ hours and leaning will result in a talk with management and potential write ups.

-Very cut throat environment, lack of professionalism
-Micromanaged by managers each time you are done speaking to a customer
-The only way you can grow within a company is by becoming an assistant manager, then store manager.. If you do not want to be in management then you are out of luck

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    good pay and reasonable benefits

    Cons

Long hours because its retail, no sick days, vacation is hard to request and has to be done 2 months in advance. Point system that punishes you when you are sick or have an emergency. Not easy to move up or out of retail environment, management does not understand the meaning of leadership or what it takes to build loyalty in a team.

    Advice to Management

    start valuing your employees

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of overtime makes up for lower base pay.

    Cons

Working in many attics and a few crawlspaces. Often required to stay extra hours on duty until service is restored to all out of service customers.

    Advice to Management

You have good products and services as well as good customers and employees.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

At$t has great benefits, solid hourly wage, and great opportunity for commission.

    Cons

Sales goals can be aggressive and difficult to obtain and At&t encourages micromanagement.

    Advice to Management

In order to retain employees and keep them happy, make realistic sales goals and avoid micromanagement. The observations are a extreme

    Pros

Flexibility, personal growth, and the ability to make a positive impact on the lives of people around me (even if they don't see it).

    Cons

It can sometimes feel a little sluggish because the company is very large and this cannot perform changes as fast as one may desire.

    Advice to Management

There are processes that need optimization, but good job so far!
