I have been working at AT&T full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    > Excellent Salary and Benefits
    > Beautiful Workplace
    > Plethora of opportunities for growth and lateral movement within the company
    > Emphasized focus on personal development and skills training
    > Visionary Leadership and Future-First mindset
    > Discounts and 401K/Roth match
    > Great internal networking opportunities

    Cons

    > Large company, sometimes silo'd work centers
    > Competitive (personally a pro but you must stay performing to move up)
    > Not a flat organization in the remote sense - very hierarchical
    > Classically conservative - making a push toward more millennial culture
    > Lack of travel stipends/incentives due to volume of acquisition budgeting

    Advice to Management

The vision is excellent and there are immense resources are at the company's fingertips. Focus culturally on breaking the classic, hierarchical mindset and foster a new-age culture in the work place. The push toward this with Vision 2020 is huge but is just a start. Learn to focus on the individual through the hiring process - make the candidate feel valuable and SELL them, don't make them feel as if they are replaceable. Graduates these days have many choices at their fingertips and a much more wholesome approach to talent acquisition would help with lowering employee turnover. The candidate should not feel forgotten after they accept the offer - focus on making them feel valued from recruiting to retirement.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexibility as to working from home, nice people.

    Cons

The company works in silos and is extremely difficult to navigate; people have the mindset of this is my job and that definitely is not, therefore I will not help.

    Advice to Management

Follow through with promises. There are so many meetings about the general direction of the company, the general direction of individual organizations and absolutely no follow through. Honest, direct guidance is desperately needed.

I have been working at AT&T (More than a year)

    Pros

Telecommuting is good and lots of training and development opportunities.

    Cons

The company does not pay employees what they actually deserve and you could get a lot less paid than your peers or even your juniors.

    Advice to Management

After investing in your employees' education pay them what they deserve, else they will go and work for your competitors.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work life balance.. You get a substantial amount of time off and there are also great benefits. Easy to move around within the company and experience different areas while still advancing your career.

    Cons

Hard work is rarely recognized by the higher ups, which I guess is expected with how large of an organization it is.

    Advice to Management

More effort to get to know those below you. We're not just another name on an email.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    It is all about money.

    Cons

Horrible, petty, mindless, middle management pitbull droids can make your life a living hell just to advance their careers.

    Advice to Management

Stop the nepotism and reward people who can actually do the job. Too much of management manages people who perform jobs that management could not perform themselves.

    Pros

One of the best thing about working for AT&T is that it is such a large company. If at anytime you feel that your career is not progressing as you had hoped it would, there are many other opportunities that are available to you.

    Cons

Because of the size of AT&T it is really easy to get lost amongst the rank and file unless you are big on self-promoting. I would prefer to do great work and get noticed for it than to do great work and tell my boss about what I did.

    Advice to Management

AT&T offers a "Learning with Distinction" program in which all the high-level leaders of the company give their own opinions about the state of the business and teach you about what they do. I dont think any other company has the leadership that would take the time to do this and for that I applaud AT&T.
