    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Mostly good people, overall good benefits, lots of challenging projects that are consumer facing to millions of customers.

    Cons

Its a large enterprise, so by the senior management level you are definitely treated like a number. Lots of corporate mandatory training that is basically useless time waster. Also in a salaried position you are considered management and have to take classes every few years to cover unionized worker jobs in case of a strike (and potentially have to called up to cover during a strike). Health care coverage benefit was eroding over the years with cost being shifted more and more to the employee. You might think stability/job security would be a "pro" for a large telco company, but there are seismic shifts going on in the business sector and lots of "surplussing" (layoffs) happening all over the organization and lots of re-organizational churn. Recent reversal of telecommuting policies.

    Advice to Management

You are not going to attract and maintain senior developer talent by micromanaging burn down rates daily during sprints and forcing people to always work from the office.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company if you have the right boss

    Cons

Reorgs every year and you risk getting a boss that's inexperienced and does not care to know their employees.

    Advice to Management

Reorgs are good for the company, but overdoing it like every six months is just as bad. At some point leadership won't even take the effort to know their employees, what contributions the employee have made in the past before they took the position and knowing if the employee is up for progression or promotion. You begin to wonder if this is the intended effect from upper management or just poor leadership.

Ironic how introductions of new leadership, speaking of their past contributions and they can't be bothered to read a summary of the employees past contributions.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The only benefit for working here was the supposed job security. Recent layoffs and increased severance offerings removes that from the very short list of pros.

    Cons

    No job stability
    No Accountability for management
    Very cliquey middle management

    Advice to Management

    Listen to reports from HR.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

the company has an established name and very long history in telecommunications.

    Cons

As an employee, you are only a number. Innovation is frowned upon. Training is forced with the hope of improving employee knowledge. The reality is this training has to be completed on your personal time as no time is allotted for the training during the work day. The organization is very siloed, so collaboration between departments is extremely challenging.

    Advice to Management

Learn from the great things companies you purchase are doing and replicate that. Stop crushing the good from those organizations.
