    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people, fun work environment, good benefits and hourly rate.

    Cons

New commission structure doesn’t allow you to make as much money, no over time, all about politics, too much writing up employees and “coaching” on a daily basis.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on sales floor and not on observations, cut back on the daily hour plus phone sales calls and hire more women

    I worked at AT&T full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good Pay.
The sales representatives are going to become like brothers and sisters to you. Personally I was surrounded by a great group of people. People who don't deserve the way they get treated by their manager.

    Cons

When you start working for AT&T they should tell you that you're nothing but a number to them. Everyone is in their own little world where everyone is looking to One-up the next person. You get caught up in this. As hard as the work/life balance is... they ask you to attend after hours events which aren't mandatory but is frowned upon if you don't attend. Don't let the managers fool you, they want to act like your friend but that's not the case. Don't attend one of these events and they won't hesitate to tell you that you don't care about your job. Don't make appointments after your shift for anything either because you never know when they'll make you stay late. If you try to tell them you have other plans, you apparently don't care about your job. It was borderline harassment.

My advice to you is to walk on eggshells when you get there. Most people at the company are quick to throw you under the bus.

You'll hear managers bad mouthing other managers and bragging about how close they are to the regional manager.

All in all, it's dog eat dog there. Have a selfish mentality going in there. You're only as good as your numbers. Anything else you do gets swept under the rug.

    Advice to Management

Make an actual connection with your employees and not make them feel expendable at any time.

All the managers do is talk about how they got yelled at over a conference call so they yell at the sales reps, do some yoga or something.

    I have been working at AT&T full-time

    Pros

None.... I ranked 1st in my market (which covers 9 states) for over a year, was not paid on 20% of my sales, and was rewarded by being moved to the worst territory in the market on 3 days notice. If you are a skilled salesman who just wants to sell, don't work here.

This company is good for those who are so-so at sales, but really skilled at playing the political game.

    Cons

Worst management and career paths I've ever seen. Upper management has no realistic views on what front line sellers/ first step managers are doing.
i spent a long time climbing that ladder only to be pushed down.
I was asked many times to do things against the company rules.
Sales numbers and a good admitted are not all that matter.
Being jewish helps you get promoted.

    Advice to Management

Please clean house from the top down.

    Pros

    Market Leader in Business Services

    Cons

Very transactional. No long term thinking or approach. Management has unrealistic expectations and is brutal when they're not met.

AT&T doesn't earn most of its business, it gets it by default

    Advice to Management

Every senior manager needs to understand the sales environment in the past 5-10 years, not 20-30 years ago.
